This two-day trek will take you through the scenic landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, culminating in the summit of Mount Toubkal. From Marrakech, you’ll travel to Imlil, where your adventure begins. Over the next two days, you’ll discover the beautiful valleys, Berber villages, and the amazing views of the High Atlas range as you ascend to the summit and back.
Day 1: Marrakech to Imlil and Toubkal Refuge
The journey begins with a 1.5-hour transfer from Marrakech to Imlil, a small village situated 1,740 meters above sea level. From here, your hike starts, taking you through scenic valleys, traditional Berber villages, terraced fields, and fragrant juniper forests. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the hospitality of the local Berber people. After 5 hours of hiking, you’ll arrive at the Toubkal Refuge, located at 3,207 meters. Here, you'll have a meal and rest in preparation for the ascent the following day.
Day 2: Toubkal Refuge to the Summit and Return
After an early breakfast, you’ll start the final push towards the summit of Mount Toubkal. This 7.5-hour hike will take you across rocky terrain and, depending on the season, you might encounter snow or ice. Upon reaching the summit, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks. After a moment of reflection, you’ll return to the Toubkal Refuge for a brief rest before continuing your descent back to Imlil. A final 1.5-hour transfer will bring you back to Marrakech.
The trek begins and ends in Marrakech, with a transfer to Imlil, a scenic village located in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Imlil is situated at an elevation of 1,740 metres, and it is the main base for the Toubkal ascent. From here, you’ll be guided through valleys, forests, and villages, all the way to the Toubkal Refuge, before summiting Mount Toubkal.
The area is rich in Berber culture, and you'll have the opportunity to interact with the locals as you pass through their villages.
Participants should be in good physical condition, as the trek involves challenging ascents and long hikes at high altitude. It’s recommended that trekkers have some previous hiking experience, particularly in mountainous terrain.
A reasonable level of fitness will ensure you can enjoy the trek without difficulty. Although the trek is suitable for beginners, prior hiking experience will help with stamina and altitude adjustment.
Mohamed, a local guide from Imlil, has over ten years of experience leading treks in the Atlas Mountains. His passion for the mountains was sparked at a young age, influenced by his father, who was also a guide.
Mohamed loves sharing his knowledge of nature, the mountains, and Berber culture with adventurers. He looks forward to guiding you through this unforgettable journey and making your experience in the Atlas Mountains as enjoyable and enriching as possible.

The actual trip was fantastic overall- Rachid picked me up as planned and we went up to Imlil. However, the route was not as described in the Adventuro listing and was hard work (745 metres ascent total in 12.5km, the last 5km being about 500m ascent all uphill) not a…
