Develop advanced leadership and dive management skills with the PADI Divemaster course. This professional-level programme guides you through extensive theory, water skills, and real-world diving experiences. You’ll emerge prepared to supervise dive activities, assist instructors, and mentor new divers, all while enhancing your confidence underwater.
The course begins with knowledge development, covering dive theory, physics, physiology, equipment, and environmental considerations. Interactive sessions, eLearning, and practical exercises ensure you fully understand dive safety and operations. You’ll also study the business aspects of diving, including career opportunities and professional responsibilities.
Next, water skills development takes place in confined water settings at Littlehampton Marina’s purpose-built facilities. Here, you’ll practise buoyancy control, underwater navigation, and rescue techniques under the supervision of experienced instructors. Each session builds competence, confidence, and readiness for open water leadership tasks.
Practical workshops and field experiences form the core of the course. You’ll assist with Discover Scuba Diving sessions, lead Discover Local Diving programs, and participate in search and recovery exercises. Supervised open water dives allow you to put theory into practice while developing skills in diver supervision, risk management, and dive briefings.
Training takes place primarily at Littlehampton Marina, with pool sessions and practical exercises conducted at the centre’s indoor and sheltered facilities. This ensures a controlled, safe environment for learning core skills before taking them into open water.
Open water activities occur in nearby coastal areas chosen for their suitability for leadership training and professional-level exercises. These include practical experience supervising divers, conducting guided dives, and performing search and recovery exercises. The location provides easy access to both sheltered and deeper water environments suitable for professional training.
You must be at least 18 years old, hold a PADI Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent), and have current Emergency First Response certification within the past 24 months. A minimum of 40 logged dives and passing a basic medical screening are required.
Strong swimming skills and comfort in open water are essential. This course is designed for divers who are ready to transition into a professional role and lead others safely while gaining real-world experience in dive supervision.
Instructors offer personal mentorship throughout each stage of the programme, ensuring tailored guidance and feedback for all skills. Their experience allows for hands-on coaching in leadership, emergency management, and dive supervision, helping you confidently transition to professional diving.
The centre combines modern facilities, high-quality gear, and a supportive environment with access to Littlehampton’s excellent coastal dive sites. The duration varies depending on your previous experience, availability, and progression through the programme. Typically, students complete the course over several weeks while balancing theoretical learning, pool sessions, and open water practicals.
