We had a fantastic morning on the river, the sun was shining and Andy was very helpful in his advice of where we could get to in the time we’d booked. All equipment and facilities great too, very handy to have lockers to leave some bags behind. Would definitely recommend!

Spend the day on the non-tidal River Thames in Surrey with our stand-up paddleboard (SUP) hire. Suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers alike, these high-quality boards provide a stable and enjoyable way to explore the river. Hire options range from one hour up to a full day, giving you the freedom to plan your adventure at your own pace.
Paddle along calm stretches of the Thames and enjoy the scenery from a unique water-level perspective. The river offers islands, beaches, and riverside parks easily accessed by board, making it ideal for stops, picnics, or a quick swim. For a distinctive view, paddle up to Hampton Court and see the palace from the river, or simply explore the quiet corners and wildlife along the way.
Your session can include riverside pubs, cafes, and restaurants for convenient stops, while rope swings along the route offer fun opportunities to take a refreshing plunge. The boards are stable and responsive, allowing you to glide smoothly even if it’s your first time on a SUP. This makes it a great option for families, friends, or solo paddlers looking for an active yet relaxed day on the water.
The hire launches from a private pontoon at 16 Cherry Orchard Gardens, West Molesey, Surrey, providing a safe and accessible starting point. The area features calm, non-tidal waters that are perfect for paddlers of all experience levels, with scenic stretches and quiet corners along the river to enjoy.
The Thames is shared with other paddlers, rowers, and small craft, so awareness and courtesy are important. Take care around locks and weirs, and always keep to the right-hand side of the river. Respecting other users and riverside property ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone on the water.
Bookings must be made by an adult aged 18 or over, with at least one adult accompanying any junior paddlers on the water. All paddlers are required to wear the provided buoyancy aids, and a brief safety briefing is given before launch.
Equipment must be returned by the end of the hire period and removed from the water by dusk. Paddlers should wear clothing suitable for the weather, bring waterproof layers if rain or wind is forecast, and consider a small dry bag for personal items. The boards are designed for single paddlers and can accommodate small dogs if required.
Led by experienced Thames paddlers, the team offers expert guidance and support to ensure every session is safe and enjoyable. Their advice on river rules, conditions, and local routes helps first-time paddlers gain confidence and experienced paddlers make the most of their day.
As a Paddle UK Delivery Partner and members of the British Stand Up Paddle Association, they maintain high standards of safety and professionalism. With well-maintained boards and supportive staff, every hire is designed to be relaxed, safe, and tailored to your pace and preferences.

Yes, we ensure a safe experience for all paddlers. Our team adheres to the highest safety standards and provides thorough instructions before you set out on the water.
All bookings must be made by an adult 18+, and at least one adult must accompany any junior paddlers on the water.
A question we get asked often by our visitors, the paddleboard is designed for bare feet to grip, so shoes will not be essential. So, when it is warm you can go bare foot no problem.
However, in the colder months, you might want something to keep you a bit warmer like neoprene boots.
You can paddle on your knees and you can paddle sitting down (but perhaps, it will be better opting for a kayak in this instance).
However you chose to enjoy your experience, we’re with you.
Paddleboarding has become a family experience with parents taking children and even dogs!
It is possible to paddleboard without knowing how to swim, although wearing a life vest will be essential. Therefore, it will be better it if you know how to swim as it is without a doubt that you will fall off of your paddleboard at some point!
The amount of weight a paddle board can support is genrally determined by it’s size – the bigger the board, the more weight it will support.
The average 10’6″ paddleboard can support approximately 110KGs
However, there are boards that can support much more, so it’s just a matter of finding the right board for your size.
Likewise, a lighter paddler might find an average 10’6″ board too cumbersome to paddle and there are smaller boards that would be more suited.
You can burn twice as much calories as walking with paddleboarding.
On average, you might burn anywhere from 300 to 400 calories based on a light, recreational paddle.
On a more vigorous paddle, such as a cross-training SUP workout incorporating yoga or something really rigorous like SUP racing, you could expect to burn over 750-to-1,000 calories!
One of the benefits of paddle boarding is that it works your entire body, not just your arms.
Each stroke you take, you bend your knees, which means you are working your upper and lower calfs, hamstrings, quads and even glutes.
You can expect your arms and back to be working just as hard, which will help to improve your balance and strengthen your core.
The basic rule is dress for the weather and local conditions. Take in to account the forecast for the day – if it’s likely to rain or get windy, make sure you have additional clothing in a fully waterproof bag (dry bag).
In cold conditions you might consider a wetsuit or drysuit. Wetsuits are a foam based (typically rubber and neoprene) suit that water sport enthusiasts typically wear when they want some thermal protection without restricting mobility.
We are based on the towpath in West Molesey. It’s an easy place to walk and cycle to and we encourage all our customers to do that if possible – we have plenty of space for bike storage.
If you are driving, the nearest free public parking is at Hurst Park.
