Emergency First Aid at Work equips you with the essential skills to respond effectively to workplace accidents and medical emergencies. Delivered in a single day or over two half-day sessions, the course combines practical exercises with clear guidance to build confidence in managing incidents safely. It is suitable for both work and everyday environments, ensuring participants are prepared to act calmly and effectively when needed.
The course begins with an introduction to the role and responsibilities of a First Aider, covering essential legislation and workplace requirements. You will learn how to evaluate a situation quickly, prioritise care, and ensure personal safety while assisting others.
Practical training includes CPR on adults, children, and infants, use of an automated external defibrillator, and placing a casualty in the recovery position. Simulations will prepare you for handling choking, seizures, and severe bleeding, along with basic care for sprains, fractures, asthma attacks, and diabetic emergencies.
Sessions are interactive and engaging, allowing participants to practice skills in realistic scenarios while receiving personalised guidance. The course concludes with a review of record-keeping, incident reporting, and techniques to keep yourself and others safe until professional help arrives.
Courses can be arranged at your workplace or home for convenience, making it easy to fit training around your schedule. Alternatively, sessions are available at Ellerton Road, which offers ample free parking and easy access via public transport.

Training is tailored to each group’s needs while meeting all HSE requirements, whether for individuals, small businesses, or larger organisations. Sessions are delivered in a supportive and engaging environment, ensuring participants gain the knowledge and confidence needed to respond effectively in emergencies.
Yes, all participants receive a certificate upon completion that meets HSE requirements for Emergency First Aid at Work. This qualification is widely recognised by employers across the UK as the minimum first aid standard in most workplaces.
The certificate confirms your competence in handling workplace emergencies and can be used to demonstrate compliance with legal obligations. It is valid for three years, after which refresher training is recommended to maintain your skills and certification.
Certificates are ordered on completion of the course and will take approximately 2 weeks to arrive.
The training can be completed in a single six-hour day or split into two three-hour half-day sessions, depending on what suits your schedule. This flexibility allows both workplace groups and individuals to fit the training around other commitments.
All practical exercises, demonstrations, and theory content are covered within this time frame, ensuring you leave with the confidence and competence required for workplace first aid. The course structure is designed to be engaging without feeling rushed.
Participants practice CPR on adults, children, and infants, learn how to use an automated external defibrillator, and master the recovery position. Additional scenarios include choking, seizures, bleeding, sprains, fractures, and managing asthma or diabetic emergencies.
These hands-on exercises ensure that participants can act effectively during real-life emergencies. Skills are taught step-by-step with personalised guidance, so everyone gains confidence in both routine and critical situations.
