Join a private 3-day desert adventure from Marrakech to the spectacular Erg Chegaga dunes, home to some of the largest dunes in Morocco. Travel in a comfortable private 4x4 with your own driver-guide and discover a changing landscape of the High Atlas Mountains, ancient kasbahs, palm-filled valleys, Berber villages, and vast desert plateaus.
Cross the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, explore the historic Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, discover Ouarzazate and its film heritage, and travel through the beautiful Draa Valley towards the Sahara.

Driving: This tour includes several long driving days due to the distances between Marrakech and the Sahara.
Desert Access: The final approach to Erg Chegaga is off-road and takes place on desert tracks.
Camel Ride: The camel ride is optional and takes place on sandy desert terrain.
Fitness Level: A reasonable level of mobility is recommended for walking through kasbahs, climbing uneven surfaces, and exploring the dunes.
Safety: Seat belts must be worn while travelling. Your driver will adapt the journey to road and weather conditions.
Weather: Desert temperatures can vary significantly. Bring sun protection during the day and warm clothing for evenings and early mornings.
Luggage: A small overnight bag is recommended for the desert camp. Larger luggage can remain safely in the vehicle.
Accommodation: Overnight stays are provided in Zagora and at an Erg Chegaga desert bivouac.
Food: Breakfast and dinner are included. Lunches and drinks are not included.

From the High Atlas and Ait Ben Haddou to the Draa Valley and the remote Erg Chegaga dunes, the itinerary brings together Morocco's landscapes, history, culture, and desert traditions in one three-day adventure.
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. Travel south in your private 4x4 and begin the spectacular climb through the High Atlas Mountains.
Cross the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, stopping along the way to admire panoramic mountain views and traditional villages. Continue towards the Kasbah of Telouet before entering the scenic Ounila Valley.
Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco's most famous fortified villages. Explore its narrow lanes and earthen architecture before continuing south towards the Tizi n'Tinifift Pass.
As the landscape changes, enter the Draa Valley, famous for its extensive palm groves, oases, traditional ksours, and villages. Continue to Zagora for your overnight stay and dinner.
After breakfast, discover more of the region before heading deeper into the desert. Visit Tamegroute, known for its historic Quranic library and traditional pottery workshops.
Continue towards M'Hamid El Ghizlane, the gateway to the Sahara and the starting point for the final desert section of the journey.
From M'Hamid, travel across the desert landscapes towards Erg Chegaga. As the paved roads disappear, the scenery opens into vast stretches of sand and desert.
Arrive at your desert bivouac in the heart of the Chegaga dunes and settle into your camp. Take time to walk through the dunes, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, or join a camel ride across the desert.
As the sun sets, watch the dunes change color before enjoying a traditional dinner and an evening of Moroccan music around the campfire beneath the desert sky.
Wake up to the peaceful atmosphere of the Sahara and enjoy breakfast at the camp before beginning your return journey.
Leave Erg Chegaga and cross the vast desert landscapes towards Lake Iriqui, a seasonal lake surrounded by an impressive desert plateau. Continue through Foum Zguid, then travel towards Taznakht, a region renowned for its traditional Berber carpets and saffron.
Continue through the southern landscapes via Ouarzazate and Amerzgane before reconnecting with the Tizi n'Tichka Pass.
Cross the High Atlas once again and continue towards Marrakech, arriving in the evening after an unforgettable journey through southern Morocco.

Personal expenses
Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended for exploring the kasbahs and desert dunes.
Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water. A warm layer is important for the desert evening, as temperatures can drop significantly after sunset.
A small overnight bag is also recommended for the desert camp, while larger luggage can remain in the vehicle.
