Confident paddlers collect a board at Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot Harbour and paddle at their own pace. You should already stand, steer, stop and come back in. A buoyancy aid and a short safety brief are included. Add a wetsuit if you want extra warmth.
A stable inflatable or a harder board is matched when you arrive, after an ID check and a short brief on the day's wind, tide and where you can paddle. You launch from the beach or harbour and stay inside the area we mark out.
Name Tenby or Saundersfoot when you book. Hire only runs when wind and sea state are suitable. Anyone under 18 needs an adult with them on the water. Give yourself 15 minutes at the base.
Saundersfoot hire runs from the harbour at the Marine Centre of Excellence, close to the village and the slip. Tenby North Beach sits under the harbour wall, with North Beach Car Park at SA70 8AG.
Both bases give a short carry to the water. Parking fills early in summer, so leave extra time. We confirm the pick-up in your message if the planned base cannot run.
Standing, steering, stopping and coming back in without a coach is the bar. An adult over 18 must complete the safety disclaimer and leave a valid ID as a deposit.
Anyone under 18 needs an adult with them. Bring swimwear, a towel and shoes you are happy to get wet. Tell us if you want a wetsuit so we can have sizes ready.
Inflatable and harder boards are matched to how you already paddle. We follow the RNLI Surf Hire Safety Scheme, check the kit, and give a brief that matches the day's wind and tide. You are not carrying a board through town.
A buoyancy aid comes with every board. The brief is short, then the rest of the hour is yours on the water.
Name Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot Harbour when you book. For Tenby, a useful postcode is SA70 8AG for North Beach Car Park. Walk to the seafront and come down to the sand.
Saundersfoot hire is at the harbour. Give yourself 15 minutes at the base so the brief and the ID check do not eat into your water time.
One hour or two hours from the moment you leave the beach or harbour after the brief. Most people take an hour for a first independent paddle, and two hours if they already know the bay.
Give yourself 15 minutes at the base so the ID check and the brief do not eat into that window. Starts run through the day from about 10am when the sea is suitable.
Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot Harbour. Name which base you want when you book. Tenby parking is at North Beach Car Park, SA70 8AG, then walk down to the sand. Saundersfoot is at the harbour.
If wind or sea state makes one base unusable, we message you. Check your messages the evening before if you are travelling a long way.
Paddleboard, paddle and buoyancy aid. We match a stable inflatable or a harder board to how you already paddle. A short brief covers the day's wind, tide and where you can go.
A wetsuit is extra if you want one. Leave phones and bags in the car. If someone needs medication on the water, keep it in a dry pocket or a small dry bag you can wear.
Hire is for people who already feel confident standing, steering, stopping and coming back in without a coach. We still give a short brief, but we are not teaching a first stand on the sand.
If you have only stood on a board once, say so when you collect. We would rather keep you closer to the beach than send you past the harbour wall on a first independent hour.
Anyone under 18 needs an adult with them on the water. An adult over 18 must complete the disclaimer and leave ID. Children should already be happy standing on a board and getting wet.
Tell us ages and heights so we can put the right boards out on the sand. An adult needs to stay close to anyone under 18 for the whole hire.
Ordinary rain does not stop paddleboard hire. We hold or move the slot when wind or sea state makes the bay unsafe, or if we cannot launch from the planned base.
Check your messages before you travel. Safety comes first, and we would rather wait for a usable window than send you out in a messy sea.
Swimwear, a towel, a warm dry layer, sunscreen, shoes you are happy to get wet, and a valid ID for the deposit. A water bottle helps. Get changed before you arrive if you want to skip the queue.
Flip-flops are fine for the walk down, then come off on the board. Leave valuables in the car. Pack a bag for wet swimwear afterwards.
Not on a warm summer hour if you are happy in a swimming costume or shorts. The sea around Tenby and Saundersfoot still feels cold, so many people add a wetsuit for a two-hour slot.
Tell us sizes in advance so we can have suits ready. Your own full-length suit is fine. Shorties work for this hire in midsummer.
Stable inflatable boards for most independent paddles, and harder boards if you already paddle well and want a stiffer feel. We match the board when you arrive rather than asking you to guess online.
Tell us your height and how often you paddle so the right board is on the sand. A buoyancy aid comes with every hire.
A driving licence, passport or debit or credit card, left as a deposit while the board is out. An adult over 18 must complete the safety disclaimer before anyone goes on the water.
We return the ID when the board comes back in the same condition. Keep the brief in mind and stay inside the area we mark out for that day's tide.

Leon was an amazing instructor
Hi, thanks it was great, 5 stars, great teacher. Cheers, Sarah
Our booking was at midday for 2 hours, but we didn’t get the stuff until 12:15 when the lady came back with the surf school. We were then told to bring the stuff back before 2 pm or she wouldn’t be there (we needed to get our deposit back). This…
Got some surfboards and wetsuits for a couple of hours. They were dropped off at the right place right time, he was very helpful and knowledgeable, gave us a little info about the beach because we hadn't surfed there before. Will definitely be using again and recommending
We enjoyed our kayaking thoroughly. Much thanks to Jenny who supported our ride plan and made changes accordingly. Big cheers to her 👏🏻🙌🏼
