Course Breakdown

The course cover the following key components:

1. Surf Coach Safety and Rescue Techniques.
2. Aquatic First Aid, focusing on spinal injury management.
3. Casualty rescue and care in aquatic environments.
4. Understanding beach and water dynamics for coaching.
5. Fitness, lifeguarding skills, and first aid.

The course involves intensive physical training including running, swimming, and performing rescues with rescue boards. You'll gain knowledge in lifeguarding, first aid theory, basic life support, and spinal management, alongside practical rescue scenarios.

The qualification is valid for 24 months from the date of assessment, after which the lifesaving course must be completed again.

Location

The course is held at Gupton Farm, Pembrokeshire, providing an ideal training environment with access to varied water conditions.

Prerequisites

• Minimum age of 16 years at the time of assessment.
• Ability to swim 400 meters in under 8 minutes (new 2023 requirement from SLSGB).
• Medical and physical fitness to perform strenuous activities.
