We had an amazing time and learned a lot with Ivy

This comprehensive 4-day course is designed for those looking to build confidence and competence as a skipper of a motor vessel. Taught in English and tailored to moderate skill levels, it combines hands-on training with theoretical knowledge, ensuring you’re fully equipped for coastal boating. Gain your RYA Dayskipper Motor certificate and unlock new opportunities on the water.
This hands-on course focuses on practical and theoretical elements of skippering a motor yacht. You’ll learn essential navigation skills, including passage planning, weather interpretation, and piloting into different harbours. Onboard, your instructor will guide you through manoeuvring in marinas, mooring practice, and engine checks to ensure you’re prepared for real-world challenges.
One evening, you’ll gain night-time experience, developing your confidence in navigating in low-light conditions. The course also incorporates safety procedures, including crew briefings and emergency drills, making sure you feel secure and prepared in every situation. With the supportive environment, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to practise skills with personalised feedback.
The course takes place in Marina Vela, Barcelona, offering an ideal training ground for motor boating. With excellent weather conditions, calm seas, and a variety of nearby harbours, this location provides a perfect balance for practising skills like mooring and passage planning.
Easily accessible and surrounded by iconic landmarks, it’s a convenient and enjoyable setting to advance your skills.
Participants should have prior boating experience. If you’re a complete beginner, the Zero to Dayskipper package, which includes the RYA Powerboat Level 2 and Dayskipper Theory, is recommended.
You can find details of this package course among our other sessions at the bottom of this page.
Our qualified and friendly instructors ensure every participant receives personalised training in a supportive environment. With high-quality boats, carefully maintained for safety and comfort, you’ll have the ideal setup for learning.

To build your knowledge of tidal navigation, we recommend completing the Dayskipper Theory course before attending.

You’ll also complete a night-time navigation exercise as part of the syllabus.
