Yes, basic swimming ability is required.
However, you don't need to be an exceptional swimmer. The minimum requirement is the ability to swim 100 metres continuously or 200 metres using a mask, snorkel, and fins.
While we don't teach swimming during our courses, we do provide guidance on specific freediving techniques such as streamlining and finning.
