Come along for our level 3 course for an immersive sea kayaking experience along the coast of Dartmouth, Devon. Whether you're new to paddling or looking to enhance your skills, our expert-guided courses offer a comprehensive blend of learning and adventure in one of the UK's prime sea kayaking destinations.
Throughout the 5-day course, each day will be a dynamic blend of practical learning and exploration:
Day 1 sets the foundation with an orientation and introduction to basic strokes and manoeuvres, ensuring everyone starts on solid ground. As the course progresses on Day 2, you'll delve deeper into advanced paddling techniques and begin honing your navigation skills.
Day 3 focuses intensively on rescue drills and emergency procedures, essential for safe kayaking in varied conditions. By Day 4, you'll be navigating the waters with confidence, learning the intricacies of tidal planning and route selection. The final day culminates in an expedition where you'll apply all learned skills, planning and executing a memorable trip along the gorgeous Devon coast.
Situated in Dartmouth, our courses launch from Coronation Dinghy Park, providing direct access to scenic routes and diverse marine environments ideal for sea kayaking.
Participants should have regular experience in sea kayaking, either independently or with a local club, and possess solid roll or self-rescue skills to ensure safety in open water conditions.
Founded over a decade ago by Ben, a passionate sea kayaker, our centre in Dartmouth has grown to become a hub of expertise and adventure. Nestled in one of the UK's most scenic coastal regions, we boast a team of over 15 experienced coaches dedicated to providing personalised guidance tailored to your skill level and aspirations.
Our fleet of 40+ stable and easy-to-control sea kayaks ensures comfort and safety, whether you're going on your first sea kayaking adventure or seeking to advance your existing skills. We offer a unique blend of professional coaching and scenic exploration, making every course with us a memorable experience.
Accommodation is not provided, but our team can recommend nearby options ranging from campsites to hotels.
We recommend bringing personal items like sunscreen, a hat, and a reusable water bottle.
We provide all equipment you will need, but you can bring your own if you prefer.
Our standard 2-day courses is packed full of information and top coaching that will help you learn new skills and gain knowledge. You will get to enjoy the classic Sea Kayaking on offer around Dartmouth.
On our 5-day courses, you will do a deep dive into the world of Sea Kayaking. You will get to plan trips and launch from a variety of remote locations. Every day is a unique experience that you will remember for years to come.

Level 1 – Ideally suited to complete beginners, people who have never been in a kayak, but who want a fun experience and to learn the basic skills necessary to enjoy being on the water.
Level 2 – This is by far our most popular course. It is designed as a springboard for people who are keen to learn the skills that will help them start to plan their own kayak trips. Our World-Class Sea Kayak Destination makes each day of the course a unique and memorable experience
Level 3 – This course is aimed at keen Sea Paddlers who understand the fundamentals, and want to take their skills to the next level. Ideally they should be paddling regularly with a club and have some self rescue technique’s or a good roll.
Level 4 - You should be an active and experienced sea paddler; over the years you should have undertaken some longer and more challenging expeditions. You should already have the ability to be an active part of the group and know how to help others if they get into difficulty.
A choice of over 40 Sea Kayak’s by P & H, VALLEY, NORTH SHORE, DAGGER, VENTURE, WILDERNESS SYSTEM, WAVESPORT and PERCEPTION.
We also have a large range of Paddles, Buoyancy aids, Cags, Spraydecks, Charts, VHF Radios, Sea Kayak Guides and a range of personal safety equipment for you to try out.
Our waterfront location is 100m from the slipway and we have toilets and secure storage facilities here. For chart work on wild winter days, we have a large comfortable classroom 100m from the kayak base.
Included with all of our courses is the internationally recognised Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing) Paddle Start Certificate.

We had a great time. The instructor made us feel constantly reassured that we were in good hands. He was also really knowledgeable about the area and able to introduce us to great opportunities to explore various caves and coves during our training.
