Advance your indoor climbing skills with this Lead Climbing Course, designed for climbers ready to transition from top rope to lead climbing. Qualified instructors provide personalised coaching to help you develop safe and efficient lead techniques, ensuring confidence and competence on more challenging routes.
Training begins with a review of essential top rope skills and safety procedures. You will learn clipping techniques and how to manage the rope efficiently while leading a route.
Practical exercises focus on lead belaying, recognising potential fall points, and how to hold a lead fall safely. Instructors provide step-by-step feedback to build both technical skill and confidence.
The second session allows participants to practise redpointing on a variety of routes under close supervision. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to lead confidently, understand the nuances of indoor lead climbing, and safely progress in your climbing journey.
Courses run at indoor centres across Chippenham, Bristol, Swindon, and Gloucester. Each venue is equipped with climbing walls suitable for practising lead climbing safely under supervision.
The facilities offer a controlled environment where instructors can focus on technique and safety while giving climbers access to a variety of route difficulties to practice their new skills.
