If you’re looking for an unforgettable day scrambling in the Lake District, this route offers a fantastic challenge for those ready to test their skills. With expert guidance, you'll tackle an iconic line while building confidence and enjoying the adventure without the stress of navigating it yourself.
This guided scramble is perfect for anyone wanting to take on a classic Lake District ridge. Pinnacle Ridge provides plenty of variety, with steep rock sections, hands-on climbing, and incredible ridge-line movement. The direct route, graded at 3, includes tackling all the main pinnacles, offering a mini-Alpine feel. For those seeking an easier approach, variations can bypass some of the trickier moves without losing the essence of the route.
The key feature of the day is the ‘corner pitch’, a highlight climb leading to the main pinnacle. With bags of character and incredible positions, it’s a rewarding challenge for any scrambler. By the end of the route, you’ll have gained new skills, improved your movement, and enjoyed a true classic in the hills. Your instructor will be there every step of the way to offer guidance, technical support, and rope security where needed.
The activity takes place in the stunning Lake District, specifically on St Sunday Crag, where Pinnacle Ridge offers one of the most iconic scrambles in the area.
The route combines amazing views with a challenging ascent, making it a must-do for hillwalkers and scramblers ready for a more hands-on adventure.
Some scrambling experience is helpful but not essential. As long as you’re confident, have a good level of fitness, and a willingness to give it a go, this scramble can be achieved.
Founded in 2003 and run full-time since 2017, the business was built on a love for the mountains and a desire to share that passion with others. Every day out is designed to be fun, adventurous, and a chance to learn something new while enjoying the outdoors.
All instructors are fully qualified, highly experienced, and focused on ensuring you have the best day possible. From building your confidence to sharing their knowledge, they’ll help you take away skills and memories to use on your future adventures.
No prior scrambling experience is necessary, but a good level of fitness and confidence on steep ground will help you get the most out of the day.
If you’re unsure about your ability, let us know, and we’ll tailor the day to suit your experience. Easier variations of the route are available if needed.
You’ll need sturdy walking boots with good grip, as scrambling involves climbing over steep and rocky terrain.
Comfortable outdoor clothing is essential, including waterproofs, as weather conditions can change quickly in the Lake District. Layers are recommended to help manage your temperature throughout the day.
We provide ropes and all the necessary safety equipment, so you don’t need to worry about bringing technical gear.
However, you should bring a small rucksack with water, food, and any personal items like gloves, a hat, and spare clothing. A helmet and harness will be provided if required.
The activity is a full-day event, typically lasting between 6 and 8 hours.
Start and finish times may vary slightly depending on group pace, weather, and conditions on the route.
Pinnacle Ridge is graded as a 2/3 scramble, meaning it involves sustained use of hands and some sections of steeper rock.
There are opportunities to bypass trickier sections if needed. Your instructor will guide you safely and support you with a rope on more exposed parts of the route.
Of course! Contact us via the adventuro chat below and we'll arrange an additional instructor to cater for larger groups.

Had the benefit of having Paul to myself for this Hike up Helvellyn on Sun 12/10/25 on a on to one. Paul was welcoming, and very personable / friendly. He provided plenty of advice from walking & breathing techniques & walking with poles. Paul showed a lot of patience with…
Our time outdoor climbing with Paul was great! It was our first time trad climbing and also doing a multi-pitch climb.
