Being a designated first aider in the workplace comes with significant responsibility, and this First Aid at Work qualification equips you with the full range of skills needed to respond to serious incidents. Whether you’re new to the role or completing a re-qualification, this course covers everything from basic first aid to complex injuries and medical emergencies.
You’ll start by exploring the foundations of first aid, including legislation, your responsibilities, and how to act safely in an emergency. The course combines theory and practical exercises, helping you build confidence in carrying out primary and secondary surveys and basic life-saving procedures. You will practise CPR on manikins, learn to use an AED, and understand the management of common workplace injuries such as burns and bleeding.
As you progress, the course covers more complex scenarios, including spinal injuries, fractures, major illnesses, and poisoning. You will also learn to recognise and respond to medical emergencies such as anaphylaxis and epilepsy. If required, additional sessions on the effects of extreme heat and cold provide a complete skill set to prepare you for any situation. By the end of the course, you will be able to respond quickly and effectively to a wide range of workplace emergencies.
Training is delivered directly at the client’s premises, allowing sessions to be tailored to the specific workplace and the type of environment staff operate in. This ensures the content is directly relevant, with examples and scenarios based on the setting participants are familiar with.
Holding the training on-site also removes the need for travel and reduces disruption to the working day. All necessary equipment and materials are provided, and sessions can be scheduled at times that best suit the team’s routine and operational needs.
You must be aged 16 or over to enrol in this qualification. Those under 16 may attend, but they should not be relied upon by employers to act as the responsible first aider in a workplace.
You should be physically capable of performing all practical tasks, including administering CPR on a casualty lying on the floor. A good understanding of written and spoken English is also recommended to ensure you can follow the course content, participate fully, and successfully complete the assessments.
The centre provides high-quality first aid training that is practical, thorough, and compliant with national regulations. Experienced instructors focus on building both competence and confidence so you can handle emergencies effectively.
Courses are fully OFQUAL regulated and comply with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 as well as UK Resuscitation Council guidelines. This ensures that you not only meet legal requirements but leave with skills that can make a real difference in the workplace.
