Escape into the woods for a full day packed with hands-on skills, adventure, and fun combining bushcraft and 3D archery in Dorset. Begin by mastering fire lighting using natural materials and a magnesium striker, then craft essential camp tools like tent pegs and pot hangers. After a satisfying lunch, challenge your aim and stealth with woodland 3D archery, shooting at themed targets hidden among the trees.
Morning activities focus on foundational bushcraft skills: collecting natural tinder, learning various fire lighting methods, and safely using knives to carve practical camp tools. Participants will prepare wood for fires and create useful items like tent pegs or pot hangers. The instructors provide clear demonstrations and plenty of hands-on practice to build confidence and understanding.
Following lunch, the session moves to 3D archery set deep in the woodland. Unlike standard archery ranges, this part involves quietly navigating uneven terrain, taking shots from different elevations and distances at animal or zombie-themed targets. The focus is on precision, stealth, and adapting to natural obstacles, providing a fun and challenging experience in a beautiful forest setting.
The course is held in private woodland near Tolpuddle, just outside Dorchester, surrounded by mature trees and natural wildlife. The peaceful, rustic environment is ideal for learning traditional outdoor skills and offers a break from urban life. Facilities include free parking at the entrance and a composting toilet on site for convenience.
Access to the activity area requires walking over uneven natural ground without man-made paths, so supportive footwear is necessary. This secluded setting provides a safe, authentic backdrop for both bushcraft and archery activities, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in nature. Full travel details and directions are provided upon booking.
No previous experience in bushcraft or archery is required, making the session suitable for beginners and those wishing to develop their abilities in a friendly environment. A reasonable level of fitness is needed as participants will be walking through rough woodland terrain and engaging in some physical activity.
Participants must be aged 12 or older, with a minimum booking of 5 people for the session to run. Under 18s need to be accompanied by a participating adult. Dressing appropriately for weather conditions and wearing sturdy, closed-toe shoes is essential. Bringing snacks, water, and any personal medication is recommended.
This experience offers a genuine combination of bushcraft and advanced 3D archery in a relaxed, supportive woodland environment. Experienced instructors focus on delivering practical outdoor skills while ensuring everyone enjoys their time and feels confident. Small group sizes allow for personalised coaching and plenty of opportunity to practise.
The private woodland setting has been chosen for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, providing the perfect space to disconnect and focus on learning. Whether attending with family, friends, or colleagues, the day offers an unforgettable outdoor adventure that builds skills, confidence, and fun.
Sessions are carefully structured to give you the best balance of hands-on activity, skill development and enjoyment. With small group ratios and longer durations than typical commercial centres, there’s plenty of time to practise and get immersed in each activity. You’ll be guided by friendly, highly qualified instructors who tailor their coaching to your ability and aim to make sure everyone feels confident and engaged.
We only use high quality, well-maintained equipment and run our sessions from woodland bases that are designed to feel natural and authentic. Far from a typical set-up, you’ll be spending your time in a quiet, rustic woodland range that many guests have described as a “Robin Hood’s camp.” This setting, combined with the relaxed but professional instruction, makes the whole experience feel unique and memorable.
All technical equipment is provided, so you only need to focus on dressing appropriately for the weather. Comfortable outdoor clothing is best, with waterproofs or spare layers in colder or wetter conditions, and suncream and hats during the warmer months. Closed-toe footwear is required—trainers are fine. You'll be outdoors the whole time, so it’s important to come prepared for the forecast.
We also recommend bringing any snacks or drinks you might want, as well as any personal medication you may need. Sessions go ahead in most weather conditions, and being prepared helps you enjoy the full experience. There are no shops or facilities on site, so it’s best to arrive ready and self-sufficient.
Yes, dogs are welcome on site, provided they’re well-behaved and kept on a lead at all times. The woodland setting is home to deer, rabbits and pheasants, so it’s essential for your dog to remain under control. If they’re calm and used to being around people, they’re free to stay with you during the activities.
Water bowls and shaded spots are available to keep them comfortable while you take part. It’s worth bringing your own poo bags and making sure your dog is happy being in a slightly noisier setting. For many visitors, bringing the dog along adds to the experience of being outdoors as a family.
Sessions continue in most weather conditions, and the woodland setting actually makes the experience feel even more immersive when it's wet. Light rain rarely impacts the session itself, and many people find it adds to the atmosphere—especially in the woods. All our equipment is suitable for outdoor use, and instructors are well prepared to adapt if the weather changes during your visit.
That said, we do recommend dressing appropriately for the forecast. Waterproof jackets, spare layers and suitable footwear make all the difference in keeping you comfortable. If it’s looking particularly wet, a hat or hood can be useful, and bringing a spare top to change into afterwards is never a bad idea. We’ll always aim to deliver a fun and rewarding session regardless of the weather.
This session does involve a fair bit of movement, particularly in the afternoon when you’ll be walking through woodland terrain without made-up paths. You’ll also spend most of the day standing, crouching, carving, and shooting from different positions, so a reasonable level of mobility and stamina is helpful. That said, the day is paced sensibly, with plenty of time to rest, ask questions, and go at your own speed.
While it’s not a fitness challenge, the woodland ground is uneven and may be muddy or slippery in places, especially after rain. Supportive, closed-toe footwear is essential, and those with existing injuries or limited mobility should contact us in advance to discuss suitability. If you're unsure, we’re happy to help assess whether this is the right session for you or offer suitable alternatives.
3D woodland archery goes beyond traditional target shooting. Instead of standing in a line and firing at paper circles, you’ll move through a woodland course and shoot at life-sized foam targets—often in the shape of animals or themed figures like zombies—placed at varying distances, elevations, and angles. Each shot challenges your aim and awareness in a more natural, unpredictable environment.
This type of archery requires a bit more thinking and positioning. You’ll practise sneaking through the woods, judging distance, and taking accurate shots through gaps in foliage or from sloped ground. It’s fun, a little wild, and a refreshing change from the typical range setup—more like a game than a drill, with plenty of support to help you improve as you go.
Yes, but only for participants aged 12 and up. The nature of the activities—particularly the use of knives, fire lighting tools, and field archery—requires a level of responsibility and physical coordination, which is why the minimum age is set at 12. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult who can support them throughout the session.
This experience is ideal for teens who enjoy being active and learning practical skills. The instructors are used to working with mixed-age groups and will adapt guidance as needed to suit different learning styles. It’s a brilliant option for families with older children looking to do something memorable together in the great outdoors.
We have an inclusive approach and always aim to support people with physical disabilities or special educational needs. The best thing to do is contact us ahead of time so we can talk through what adjustments may be helpful to make your experience enjoyable and accessible.
Depending on the activity and individual requirements, we may be able to modify the session, adapt equipment, or provide additional support. We’re happy to tailor things where needed, and our team are experienced in creating a safe and encouraging environment for a wide range of participants.
If you book 12 or more places, the session will be private and just for your group. You’ll have exclusive use of the ranges and full attention from the instructors. This is ideal for families, birthday groups, or team outings looking for a more personal and flexible experience.
For smaller bookings, the session may be shared with other individuals or small groups. That said, group sizes are always kept low to maintain quality and make sure everyone gets time and support. If you’d prefer a fully private session for fewer people, please get in touch and we’ll see what we can arrange.
Our online booking system limits 'open' sessions to 13 people to keep things manageable when groups are mixed. However, for private or single-group bookings, we can accommodate more than this. There’s no fixed upper limit as long as we’re able to staff and prepare the session properly.
If your group is larger than 12 and you’d like to keep everyone together, just drop us a message via the adventuro chat below. We’ll discuss your needs and create a session that suits your group’s size, ability and preferences.
Absolutely. Sessions are designed to be inclusive and flexible, and we regularly run events for mixed-age families and friend groups. We’ve hosted groups ranging in age from toddlers to grandparents, and we adjust the pace and style of coaching to suit everyone.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning after a break, or have some experience, we aim to make the session enjoyable and engaging for all. Everyone is encouraged to take part at their own level, and our instructors are skilled at adapting the format to keep it fun, safe and inclusive.
Yes—please plan to arrive around 15 minutes before your session start time. This gives you time to check in, walk to the activity area and settle in before the session begins. The ranges are up to a 5-minute walk from the car park depending on the location, and it’s important that we start on time.
At the New Forest site, you’ll travel along small country roads that may include tractors or the occasional donkey crossing—so it’s worth allowing a little extra travel time. Late arrivals are treated as cancellations and are non-refundable, so do plan ahead to avoid disappointment.
Yes, there’s free on-site parking at both our New Forest and Dorset locations. At the New Forest, the car park is accessed via a narrow gravel track which may not be suitable for large motorhomes, though minibuses are fine. From there, it’s a short uphill walk—around 3 minutes—to reach the woodland ranges.
In Dorset, the car park is more easily accessed and is less than a minute’s walk from the activity area. If you or someone in your group has mobility concerns, especially for the New Forest location, we recommend giving us a call in advance so we can advise or make arrangements where needed.
Clothing-wise, layers are best. The session runs in a shaded woodland, so it can be cool even in summer, and waterproofs are a must if there’s any chance of rain. Sturdy, closed-toe footwear is essential due to the uneven terrain. Gloves can also be useful during carving or if the weather is cold. As with any outdoor activity, come prepared for changing conditions.
Food and drink are not provided, so pack lunch, snacks, and water bottles to stay fuelled throughout the session. There’s a composting toilet on site and drinking water available for top-ups, but we recommend bringing more than you think you’ll need. Personal medication, sunscreen, and insect repellent are also worth having with you.
We require a minimum of 5 people to confirm a bushcraft and 3D archery session. This helps ensure the experience runs as planned and maintains the quality of instruction and group engagement. It’s a great option for families, groups of friends, or small teams looking to spend a unique day outdoors together.
If you don’t have five people in your party, you’re still welcome to express interest—once a core group is booked in, we can open the session to others to join. This flexibility means that smaller groups often find spots on already scheduled dates. Just get in touch to check what’s available or to start a booking of your own.
