Grab your bow, check your surroundings, and prepare to take on a zombie outbreak hidden deep in Dorset’s woodland. This isn’t your typical archery session—this is instinctive, free-roaming 3D archery where you’ll sharpen your aim and test your nerve against lifelike undead targets in a rustic, off-grid woodland.
Start the session with expert guidance in traditional archery, learning to shoot without sights or gimmicks—just you, your bow, and your target. After a warm-up to dial in your aim, you’ll be introduced to instinctive shooting techniques and practice hitting targets from different angles, distances, and elevations. This part of the session gets you comfortable with your bow before the real adventure begins.
Next, it’s time to hunt. Step quietly into the trees and navigate your way through our 3D archery course, keeping your eyes peeled for zombie targets hidden throughout the woodland. Some shots are straightforward, others ask for creativity—behind cover, through gaps, up hills or down slopes. With a mix of solo focus and team encouragement, it’s an unforgettable experience that blends excitement, skill-building and storytelling in the forest.
You’ll be based in a secluded woodland range just outside Tolpuddle, Dorset—around 30 minutes from Bournemouth, Weymouth and Swanage. The site is completely rustic with no man-made paths, offering a properly off-grid feel as you move through the woods from target to target.
Facilities include a composting toilet, drinking water refills, and covered seating—but this is very much an outdoor experience. Expect uneven ground, tree roots, and changing light as you walk between ranges. Once you’re here, it’ll feel like you’ve left the everyday behind.
No archery experience is needed to take part. Everything you need to know will be explained at the start, and instructors are on-hand throughout. You’ll need to be comfortable walking through a natural woodland for up to 3 hours. Some crouching and shooting from different body positions is involved, but this can be adapted depending on ability.
A minimum of 4 people are required to run the session. If booking for fewer, we’ll do our best to pair you up with others. All equipment is provided. Please wear closed-toe footwear, long trousers, and outdoor clothing suitable for the weather. A refillable water bottle and any personal medication are also advised.
This experience is delivered by a small team of passionate instructors who specialise in unique, outdoor sessions across the Dorset area. The woodland setting is hand-built and designed to work in harmony with the natural environment, offering a more personal and imaginative alternative to commercial activity parks.
You’ll get quality coaching, plenty of freedom to explore and a proper dose of fresh air—all backed by excellent kit and a warm welcome. Small group sizes mean you get more time on target, more movement, and no standing around waiting your turn. It’s exciting, a bit silly, and just the right amount of challenge for something different with friends, family or your next celebration.
While you don’t need to be super fit to take part, a reasonable level of mobility is required. You’ll be moving through a natural woodland environment for up to three hours, which means walking on uneven ground, crouching for certain shots, and occasionally shooting from sloped or angled positions. The course is not strenuous, but it is very much outdoors and involves physical movement throughout.
There are no man-made paths, so expect tree roots, soft ground, and occasional low branches. If you’re unsure about the physical side, feel free to get in touch beforehand. We’ll always try to accommodate where possible and give you an idea of how much adaptation can be made based on your needs.
All technical equipment is provided, so you only need to focus on dressing appropriately for the weather. Comfortable outdoor clothing is best, with waterproofs or spare layers in colder or wetter conditions, and suncream and hats during the warmer months. Closed-toe footwear is required—trainers are fine. You'll be outdoors the whole time, so it’s important to come prepared for the forecast.
We also recommend bringing any snacks or drinks you might want, as well as any personal medication you may need. Sessions go ahead in most weather conditions, and being prepared helps you enjoy the full experience. There are no shops or facilities on site, so it’s best to arrive ready and self-sufficient.
Yes, dogs are welcome on site, provided they’re well-behaved and kept on a lead at all times. The woodland setting is home to deer, rabbits and pheasants, so it’s essential for your dog to remain under control. If they’re calm and used to being around people, they’re free to stay with you during the activities.
Water bowls and shaded spots are available to keep them comfortable while you take part. It’s worth bringing your own poo bags and making sure your dog is happy being in a slightly noisier setting. For many visitors, bringing the dog along adds to the experience of being outdoors as a family.
Sessions continue in most weather conditions, and the woodland setting actually makes the experience feel even more immersive when it's wet. Light rain rarely impacts the session itself, and many people find it adds to the atmosphere—especially in the woods. All our equipment is suitable for outdoor use, and instructors are well prepared to adapt if the weather changes during your visit.
That said, we do recommend dressing appropriately for the forecast. Waterproof jackets, spare layers and suitable footwear make all the difference in keeping you comfortable. If it’s looking particularly wet, a hat or hood can be useful, and bringing a spare top to change into afterwards is never a bad idea. We’ll always aim to deliver a fun and rewarding session regardless of the weather.
Not at all. This experience is designed to be suitable for complete beginners as well as those who’ve done a bit of archery in the past. The first part of the session is all about learning or refining instinctive shooting skills — no sights, no modern tech — just traditional bows and some solid advice from experienced instructors. You’ll be guided through everything you need to know before you step into the woods for the main event.
If you do have previous archery experience, you won’t feel held back. The instructors adapt the session to match everyone’s comfort levels and abilities. Whether it’s your first time drawing a bow or you’ve shot before, you’ll still get the chance to challenge yourself and push your accuracy and awareness as the targets get more inventive and the course more demanding.
A minimum of 4 participants is needed for this session to go ahead. This is to ensure there’s enough interaction and flow through the course for it to be a fun and engaging experience for everyone. If you’re booking fewer than four places, don’t worry — we’ll try to match you with another booking or let you know your options.
It’s worth checking in with us before finalising your booking if you’re not part of a larger group. Once we’ve got enough interest for a session to run, others can be added on. This setup keeps the sessions small, social, and fun without turning them into a queueing activity or overcrowded event.
Yes — zombie targets are the star of the show, but depending on the group and session style, you might encounter a mix of 3D targets that also include woodland animals. These are lifelike foam targets used purely for sport. We never condone or promote hunting animals, and these targets are just here to make your archery more fun and challenging. Zombies, on the other hand… fair game!
The entire course takes place in our off-grid Dorset woodland. You’ll be moving from station to station, just like a field archery course, weaving through trees, crossing little clearings, and taking aim from various natural angles. There’s no fixed shooting line, and no two shots are ever quite the same.
We have an inclusive approach and always aim to support people with physical disabilities or special educational needs. The best thing to do is contact us ahead of time so we can talk through what adjustments may be helpful to make your experience enjoyable and accessible.
Depending on the activity and individual requirements, we may be able to modify the session, adapt equipment, or provide additional support. We’re happy to tailor things where needed, and our team are experienced in creating a safe and encouraging environment for a wide range of participants.
If you book 12 or more places, the session will be private and just for your group. You’ll have exclusive use of the ranges and full attention from the instructors. This is ideal for families, birthday groups, or team outings looking for a more personal and flexible experience.
For smaller bookings, the session may be shared with other individuals or small groups. That said, group sizes are always kept low to maintain quality and make sure everyone gets time and support. If you’d prefer a fully private session for fewer people, please get in touch and we’ll see what we can arrange.
Our online booking system limits 'open' sessions to 13 people to keep things manageable when groups are mixed. However, for private or single-group bookings, we can accommodate more than this. There’s no fixed upper limit as long as we’re able to staff and prepare the session properly.
If your group is larger than 12 and you’d like to keep everyone together, just drop us a message via the adventuro chat below. We’ll discuss your needs and create a session that suits your group’s size, ability and preferences.
Absolutely. Sessions are designed to be inclusive and flexible, and we regularly run events for mixed-age families and friend groups. We’ve hosted groups ranging in age from toddlers to grandparents, and we adjust the pace and style of coaching to suit everyone.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning after a break, or have some experience, we aim to make the session enjoyable and engaging for all. Everyone is encouraged to take part at their own level, and our instructors are skilled at adapting the format to keep it fun, safe and inclusive.
Yes—please plan to arrive around 15 minutes before your session start time. This gives you time to check in, walk to the activity area and settle in before the session begins. The ranges are up to a 5-minute walk from the car park depending on the location, and it’s important that we start on time.
At the New Forest site, you’ll travel along small country roads that may include tractors or the occasional donkey crossing—so it’s worth allowing a little extra travel time. Late arrivals are treated as cancellations and are non-refundable, so do plan ahead to avoid disappointment.
Yes, there’s free on-site parking at both our New Forest and Dorset locations. At the New Forest, the car park is accessed via a narrow gravel track which may not be suitable for large motorhomes, though minibuses are fine. From there, it’s a short uphill walk—around 3 minutes—to reach the woodland ranges.
In Dorset, the car park is more easily accessed and is less than a minute’s walk from the activity area. If you or someone in your group has mobility concerns, especially for the New Forest location, we recommend giving us a call in advance so we can advise or make arrangements where needed.
All archery equipment is provided, so you won’t need to bring anything specialised. Just wear clothing that’s appropriate for the weather and woodland terrain. Long trousers, closed-toe shoes or boots, and a few spare layers are a good shout. You’ll be outside for the full three hours, so waterproofs or sun protection might be useful depending on the forecast.
It’s also a good idea to bring water (there’s a refill point on-site), any personal medication, and maybe a snack for the drive home. There’s a composting toilet on-site, but no café or indoor facilities, so come prepared for a properly wild outdoor experience.
