Dive deeper with confidence and explore underwater environments beyond the usual limits on our PADI Deep Diver Course. This course equips you with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed for safe, controlled dives at greater depths. Ideal for adventurous divers looking to expand their underwater horizons, it combines theory with hands-on learning in open water.
Throughout the course, you’ll gain a detailed understanding of deep diving techniques and safety measures. The training begins with theoretical sessions using PADI eLearning materials, covering topics such as gas management, nitrogen narcosis, and emergency planning. You’ll then put this knowledge into practice over four open water dives, building confidence and competence under instructor supervision.
During the practical dives, you’ll focus on buoyancy control, navigation, and maintaining effective buddy contact. The course emphasises safe, controlled ascent and descent procedures while exploring deeper sites, ensuring you can enjoy the experience while managing risks effectively. By the end of the program, you’ll be able to plan and execute deep dives independently with increased skill and awareness.
Sessions are based at Littlehampton Marina, providing easy access to a variety of dive sites along the West Sussex coast. Open water dives are conducted at carefully selected locations suitable for deep diving, offering diverse underwater terrain and marine life to enhance your learning experience.
The surrounding area features several convenient dive spots, including boat-accessible sites and sheltered coastal zones. Instructors ensure that each dive is conducted in a safe and engaging environment, allowing you to focus on developing your deep diving skills while enjoying the rich underwater world off Littlehampton.
Applicants must hold an Adventure Diver certification or an equivalent qualification, ensuring a strong foundation in essential scuba skills. A basic medical screening is required to confirm fitness for deep diving, including tolerance to increased pressure and extended time underwater.
Divers should feel confident managing buoyancy, maintaining buddy contact, and executing standard safety procedures independently. Previous experience in open water dives is essential, as the course builds on established skills to focus on advanced deep diving techniques.
Instruction is delivered by highly experienced PADI-certified instructors who focus on safety, skill development, and practical application in real diving conditions. Each diver receives personalised guidance to build confidence and competence for deeper, more challenging dives.
Small group sizes allow for tailored coaching and immediate feedback during dives. With modern facilities, reliable high-quality equipment, and an emphasis on responsible diving practices, participants gain both the skills and the mindset to pursue advanced underwater exploration safely.
The course includes four open water dives conducted over several sessions. Each dive is designed to gradually introduce deeper underwater environments, focusing on buoyancy, navigation, and safety protocols. You’ll be closely supervised by your instructor to ensure confidence and skill development at each stage.
In addition to practical skill application, the dives include pre-dive briefings covering objectives, safety considerations, and dive site conditions. You’ll also conduct post-dive reviews to assess performance, reinforce learning points, and address any challenges encountered during the dive.
Safety is prioritised with detailed instruction on gas management, nitrogen narcosis, and ascent rates. You’ll learn to plan dives with contingency procedures, use dive computers effectively, and apply buddy system protocols at all times.
Emergency drills are incorporated into both pool and open water sessions, allowing you to practice problem-solving and rescue skills in a controlled environment. These measures ensure you can respond confidently to unexpected situations while diving at depth.
The course provides full scuba equipment suitable for deep dives, including regulators, buoyancy control devices, tanks, and weights. All gear is regularly maintained and tailored to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Divers are encouraged to use personal masks, fins, and wetsuits for comfort, but all essential equipment is included in the course package. Instructors also demonstrate proper equipment setup and maintenance during training sessions.
You’ll practise buoyancy techniques in open water, focusing on fine-tuning your trim and maintaining neutral buoyancy at depth. Exercises include hovering, controlled ascents, and manoeuvring around obstacles to simulate real dive conditions.
Instruction is personalised, with the instructor providing feedback and adjustments to your technique. Mastery of buoyancy ensures a safer dive, reduced air consumption, and minimal impact on underwater environments.
Yes, as long as you have Adventure Diver certification or equivalent, you’ll have the foundational skills needed for deeper dives. The course builds progressively, introducing theoretical concepts before applying them in deeper open water scenarios.
Your instructor will assess your readiness and provide additional support where necessary, ensuring a smooth transition from shallow to deep diving while maintaining safety and confidence.
Divers aged 15 to 99 can enrol, provided they meet the Adventure Diver prerequisite and pass the medical screening. The course is designed to accommodate a wide range of ages while maintaining safety and learning effectiveness.
You’ll be guided according to your individual capabilities, and instructors provide extra support where needed to ensure everyone achieves the course objectives safely.
