Learning to dive confidently starts here. You’ll practise theory and core skills in a heated pool before progressing to open water dives, giving you hands-on experience and guidance throughout. With instruction tailored to your pace, you’ll be ready to dive safely with a certified buddy.
Sessions start in the pool with theory and practical exercises. You’ll learn and practise breathing techniques, mask clearing, and buoyancy skills under the watchful eye of instructors. Pool exercises help you gain confidence before heading to open water.
Four open water dives follow at local sites such as Capernwray quarry (max depth 22m), Ellerton inland lake (max depth 7m), or Beadnell Bay shore dives (max depth 7m). Instructors guide each dive, helping you apply skills, communicate underwater, and practise buddy techniques.
By completing both pool and open water dives, you’ll build the competence and confidence required for certified diving up to 20 metres. Instructors ensure you leave with the skills to continue safely and enjoyably.
Pool sessions are at Seaton Valley High School’s 25m heated indoor pool, providing a calm, controlled environment to learn and practise essential skills. Exclusive use ensures personalised guidance and focus.
Open water dives take place at carefully selected sites suitable for beginner divers. Each site offers safe entry, changing facilities, and conditions designed to help you apply skills with confidence in real-world settings.
You must be at least 15 years old. No prior diving experience is required, but basic swimming ability is essential.
Instructors tailor exercises to your comfort and ability, ensuring that you learn at a pace that helps you feel safe and confident in both pool and open water environments.
Friendly instructors give individual attention, helping you master skills and navigate common beginner challenges. Personalised guidance ensures that learning is effective and fun.
Combining pool and open water sessions lets you practise techniques in a controlled environment before applying them in real-world conditions. You’ll gain skills, confidence, and preparation for further courses or recreational diving.
The sessions are designed for anyone 15 or older who wants to gain the skills needed for certified scuba diving up to 20 metres. Beginners with no prior experience can join safely.
Instructors adapt exercises to individual ability, ensuring you progress at a comfortable pace while developing confidence underwater.
The course includes four confined water dives in the pool and four open water dives at local sites.
This structure ensures you practise essential skills in a controlled environment before experiencing real-world diving, allowing you to gain confidence in both settings.
You’ll learn breathing and regulator use, mask clearing, buoyancy control, trim, and underwater navigation.
You’ll also practise safe diving procedures, buddy communication, and handling common issues underwater, preparing you for further certified courses.
Dives can be conducted at Capernwray quarry (max depth 22m), Ellerton inland lake (max depth 7m), or Beadnell Bay shore dives (max depth 7m).
Each location offers facilities like changing rooms and showers, easy water access, and conditions suited for beginner divers to practise confidently.
Full scuba gear is included, such as mask, fins, buoyancy device, and regulator.
You only need swimwear and a towel. Instructors fit and check all equipment to ensure safety and comfort.
