Join us for an exciting full day of sea kayaking designed specifically for young families with children aged 5 and above. Set against the gorgeous backdrop of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, our adventure promises a day filled with exploration, fun activities, and memorable moments for the whole family.
Come along on a day-long adventure along Dorset’s coastline, starting from the serene waters of Portland’s harbour. Our experienced guides will lead you to hidden lagoons and scenic sandy beaches accessible only by kayak. Throughout the journey, there will be opportunities to observe marine wildlife in their natural habitat and perhaps even discover fossils along the Jurassic Coast.
For families with young children, our double kayaks provide stability and safety, allowing everyone to paddle comfortably. You’ll enjoy breaks on secluded beaches, where you can swim, explore, and indulge in a picnic lunch surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Our base at Osprey Leisure Centre in Castletown, Portland, offers easy access to both sheltered waters and expansive coastal routes, ensuring a varied and enjoyable kayaking experience for all ages.
No prior kayaking experience is required. Our stable kayaks and expert guidance ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for beginners and seasoned paddlers alike. Non-swimmers are welcome.
At our centre, founded by Paul with over 25 years of experience in adventure sports, we prioritise safety, enjoyment, and education. Our small group sizes ensure personalised attention, while our commitment to quality equipment and knowledgeable guides guarantees a memorable outing for your family.
Wear shorts and a t-shirt, and bring a warm jumper and trousers (non-cotton), shoes or sandals that can get wet, and swimwear if you plan to swim during breaks.
Full Day -
Pack up your sunscreen and snacks because this is the trip you’ll never forget. Spend a whole day exploring the coast with us because we offer more time than a half-day tour so there’s nothing stopping you from going at your own pace without having to rush through it all.

You don’t need all day on the water to have a good time! Our 1/2-day trips let you experience some of what we do while still giving you some free time when we stop at beaches for swimming.

Our young family trips are designed for families with children of about the same age so you can share in their excitement and fun.
There are no hard and fast rules and if your 11-year-old is taller than mum and is usually found in the front row of his team’s rugby scrum, then feel free to book in with the adults!
Yes! It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or an expert – this water activity is incredibly fun for all types of people.
With the retractable fin at the back, even beginners can keep up with the flow effortlessly.
Our double kayaks also come equipped with easy-to-use rudders for those who want to stay on course without breaking a sweat.
We keep our group sizes small with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 8 people per instructor. If you are a larger group or 2 families who want to kayak together, that is no problem at all; you will simply have multiple instructors looking after you on the water.
