During the taster session, you’ll receive a fun and hands-on introduction to windsurfing. You’ll learn how to balance on the board, set up and use the equipment, and sail in a straight line. Our RYA-trained instructors will guide you through each step, and by the end of the session, you’ll be windsurfing in light winds with the ability to make basic turns. While this session will get you up and windsurfing, you’ll need further lessons to gain more control and confidence on the water.
All sessions take place at Hove Lagoon, a sheltered and shallow body of seawater located just minutes from Brighton’s seafront. The calm, controlled environment makes it an ideal place for beginners to learn windsurfing safely and enjoyably.
This course is designed for complete beginners with no prior windsurfing experience needed. If you’re a non-swimmer, please let us know in advance so we can make adjustments for your safety.

No, this session is designed for complete beginners. No prior windsurfing experience is required, and our RYA-certified instructors will guide you through the basics step by step.
The session lasts 2 hours, giving you plenty of time to learn the fundamentals of windsurfing, including how to balance, set up the equipment, and sail in a straight line.
We provide all the necessary equipment, including a windsurf board, sail, wetsuit, and buoyancy aid. You just need to bring your own swimwear to wear under the wetsuit and a towel for after the session.

We run sessions in most weather conditions, including light rain. However, if it’s extremely windy or if there’s lightning, we may need to cancel the session for safety reasons. If this happens, we’ll help you reschedule your session at no extra cost.
We offer full facilities at Hove Lagoon, including changing rooms, hot showers, and lockers to store your belongings. There’s also a café on-site where you can grab snacks and drinks after your session. The centre has disabled access to ensure everyone can enjoy their experience.
For safety reasons, we recommend that participants are water confident and able to swim. If you’re not a strong swimmer, please let us know in advance so that we can make suitable adjustments to ensure your safety.
