Learn to windsurf on the Costa del Sol with a structured beginner session designed to get you confidently on the water from your first attempt. With warm conditions and consistent wind, this is an ideal place to start building real skills.
The session starts on land with a clear introduction to windsurfing fundamentals. You’ll learn how wind direction affects movement, how to position your body, and how to handle the sail safely. This initial theory helps you make sense of what’s happening once you’re on the water.
Once you head out, you’ll be using stable, beginner-friendly boards and manageable sail sizes. Conditions on the Costa del Sol often allow for consistent learning, with enough wind to move but not so much that it becomes difficult to control. Instructors stay close, offering continuous feedback to help you adjust your stance, sail angle, and direction.
By the end of the session, most participants are able to stand comfortably, control the sail, and start moving across the water in short, controlled runs. This session builds the foundation needed to progress into longer runs and more confident sailing in follow-on lessons.
The session takes place in Estepona, on the coastline between Estepona and Marbella. This stretch of coast is known for its reliable weather and consistent wind, making it suitable for beginner windsurfing.
You’ll meet at Calle de Levante, near the beach by Asociación Torre de Baños in the Benamara area. The setup provides direct access to the water, allowing for a quick transition from briefing to sailing. The open coastline offers space to practise safely while benefiting from steady wind exposure.
No previous windsurfing experience is required. This session is designed specifically for complete beginners and introduces all key skills step by step.
Participants should be comfortable in the water and able to swim while wearing a buoyancy aid. A basic level of fitness is helpful, as you’ll be standing, balancing, and handling the sail throughout the session.
The combination of consistent weather, warm water, and adaptable equipment creates an ideal environment for learning. You’ll spend more time actually sailing rather than waiting for suitable conditions, which makes a big difference to progression.
With a structured teaching system and years of coaching experience, the focus is on helping you build a solid foundation quickly. The session is designed to set you up properly for the next stage, whether that’s continuing lessons or developing your skills independently.
