Head out onto the bay as the light starts to fade on a guided sunset tour by kayak or paddleboard, finishing back on shore with tapas and a drink. A local instructor leads the group throughout, so the route and pace are taken care of from start to finish.
The tour begins with a short introduction to handling either a kayak or a paddleboard, so first timers feel comfortable before setting off. From there, the group paddles out together as the sky begins to change colour, heading towards the small islet of Na Galera.
After time by the islet, the group returns to shore as the light fades further, finishing the evening with tapas and a drink at a nearby spot. It is a relaxed way to spend an evening on the water, whether you have paddled before or not.
Can Pastilla forms part of the long curve of Playa de Palma, close enough to central Palma to combine easily with an evening out afterwards. The beach and promenade are busy with cafes and bars, giving the tour a lively backdrop before and after the time on the water.
Na Galera sits just offshore, a modest islet known locally for archaeological finds from centuries past, and it makes a memorable point to pause during the paddle out. Looking back towards the coast at sunset, the outline of Palma and the wider bay comes into view, adding to the appeal of timing the tour for the end of the day.
No previous paddling experience is needed, since an instructor guides the whole session and explains the basics before departure. The tour suits complete beginners as well as those who have paddled before, and both kayaks and paddleboards are available on the day.
A reasonable level of comfort in the water is helpful given that the group paddles as one, though the guide keeps an eye on pace throughout. Anyone under 6 is not able to join, and younger participants should be seated with a confident adult.
Having a guide along for the whole tour takes the pressure off working out a route, so the focus stays on enjoying the paddle and the colours of the sunset. Choosing between a kayak or a paddleboard on the day also means the tour suits mixed groups with different preferences.
Finishing with tapas and a drink turns the outing into more of an evening than a quick activity, rounding things off nicely once you are back on dry land.
