Experience the calm waters of the non-tidal River Thames in Surrey with our single touring kayak hire. Ideal for solo paddlers or family outings, these sit-in kayaks are comfortable, stable, and easy to handle, allowing you to enjoy a full day on the river at your own pace. Flexible hire options let you choose from one hour up to a full day on the water.
This sit-in touring kayak sits low in the water, providing excellent stability while remaining easy to manoeuvre. Adjustable footrests and seat backs ensure a comfortable position for longer paddling sessions, and the hull design allows the kayak to track efficiently in a straight line while still handling turns easily. Rigging lines and a rear hatch provide space for personal equipment, making it practical for extended trips.
Paddlers can plan routes along calm stretches of the River Thames, passing riverside parks, islands, and local pubs and cafes. The kayak’s design is suited to longer trips, giving you a smooth and comfortable ride, whether you’re exploring independently or paddling with friends and family. It’s also a faster option than a sit-on-top kayak, making it ideal for those looking to cover more ground on the river.
The launch takes place from a private pontoon on the non-tidal River Thames in Surrey, giving easy access to quiet, scenic waters. The surrounding area includes islands, riverside paths, and small beaches, offering plenty of opportunities to pause, take in the scenery, or enjoy a picnic by the river.
The river is shared with other paddlers and small craft, so awareness and courtesy are important. Take extra care near locks and weirs, and always keep to the right-hand side of the river. Respect for other river users and riverside property owners ensures a safe and pleasant experience for everyone on the water.
All bookings must be made by an adult aged 18 or over, and at least one adult must accompany any junior paddlers on the water. Buoyancy aids provided must be worn at all times. Arriving a few minutes early allows time to fit your equipment correctly so you can start your session promptly and make the most of your hire period.
Equipment must be returned before the end of your hire period and removed from the water by dusk. Paddlers should dress appropriately for the weather and bring waterproof clothing if rain or wind is forecast. A small dry bag is recommended for valuables. The kayak is designed for a single paddler, but small dogs can be accommodated if required, using the limited dog life vests available.
The centre is operated by experienced paddlers with extensive knowledge of the River Thames, committed to safe and enjoyable experiences. As a Paddle UK Delivery Partner and members of the British Stand Up Paddle Association, they uphold the highest standards of professionalism and safety for all hire sessions.
Guests benefit from well-maintained touring kayaks and expert guidance on local routes and points of interest. Whether this is your first time kayaking or a return visit, the team ensures a smooth, comfortable, and rewarding day on the water with full support and advice.
Wonderful service, great place and really friendly! Thoroughly recommend!
We had a fantastic morning on the river, the sun was shining and Andy was very helpful in his advice of where we could get to in the time we’d booked. All equipment and facilities great too, very handy to have lockers to leave some bags behind. Would definitely recommend!
Had a great Kayak session with Andy. A knowledgable, friendly and interesting guy and gave me the confidence I needed to start going out on my own kayak reguarly.
