The Seamanship Skills course involves extensive hands-on practice, with much of the work done without an instructor on board. In this course, you'll master several advanced techniques, including precise boat handling in various conditions, recovering a man overboard, anchoring, mooring, and even sailing backwards. These skills are designed to enhance your ability to handle a dinghy in more challenging situations, increasing your confidence and self-reliance on the water.
This course is not intended for beginners. It's tailored for sailors who have already achieved RYA Level 2 Basic Skills or have equivalent experience. Participants should be capable of sailing a dinghy efficiently around a course without instruction, as the course focuses on building upon these foundational skills.
The course emphasises increasing your self-reliance and decision-making capabilities in sailing. By mastering advanced techniques and understanding how to respond effectively to various scenarios, such as man overboard or adverse weather conditions, you'll be well-prepared to handle challenging situations confidently and safely.
Yes, the course fee includes breakfast and a cooked lunch on both days of the training. However, accommodation is not included in the course fee. If you require accommodation, it needs to be requested separately and is subject to availability.

Yes, we cater for all types of food allergies and religious food requirements. We ask that you inform our reception team at least 2 weeks prior to your visit to allow our catering team to source the necessary ingredients and produce a suitable menu.
Accommodation is not included in this course. However, it can be arranged upon request and subject to availablity. The majority of our bedrooms sleep between 3 to 4 in bunk beds in each room. Sheets, duvets and pillows are provided. All rooms are en-suite.

The course was excellent from start to finish, anyone that’s into boating or thinking about boating try this course. It has gave me the skills and confidence to buy my own boat and drive it comfortably on both the lakes and sea. Excellent value for money.
