Best teaching ratio in the UK at 6:1, at an award-winning Surfing England Centre of Excellence. This progressor weekend camp is for surfers moving from whitewater towards green waves, with four coached sessions, video analysis, and classroom theory over two intensive days on Croyde Bay.
You work on paddling beyond the whitewater, timing unbroken waves, trimming and turns, with coaches who stay close in the line-up and debrief using video between sessions. The camp mirrors our daily improver lessons but with the time to embed skills across four water sessions instead of a single 2.5-hour slot.
Mornings and afternoons combine beach coaching with classroom theory on tides, wind, swell direction, and lineup etiquette. You leave with filmed feedback and clear practice points, not just a memory of one good wave.
Typical signs you are ready: you pop up consistently in whitewater, you are starting to catch green waves, and you want more control, ocean awareness and lineup skills.
Goals include efficient paddling out, reading sets, managing wipeouts safely, and building confidence in varied Croyde conditions. If you are already riding green waves confidently, our intermediate weekend camp may be the better fit.
Croyde Bay weekend camps run from Baggy Lodge with direct access to the beach and full centre facilities. We are a short walk from the sand, with indoor changing, hot showers, and hundreds of wetsuits and Softech boards on site for a comfortable camp experience.
North Devon's premier surf bay gives you repeatable green waves to practise on across the weekend, and the village is a popular base for surfers with cafes, coastal walks, and accommodation options a few minutes from the meeting point.
You should already ride whitewater confidently and be working towards green waves. Swim 50 metres, be aged 18+, and bring reasonable fitness for two active days in the Atlantic.
Let us know when you enquire if you are unsure whether progressor or intermediate camp fits you best. Coaches can advise on readiness and may suggest a daily lesson first if a full weekend would be a stretch.
Being featured in The BBC, Vogue, The Independent, Airbnb, Carve Magazine, and Surfing England, alongside 5-star TripAdvisor reviews, is something we are very proud of.
Coaching follows Damon Beveridge's programme standards and Surf Development UK methods, with ISA-qualified beach-lifeguard instructors and the smallest groups in Croyde at six surfers per coach throughout the camp.
The progressor camp is a two-day programme for adults moving from whitewater towards green waves. You get four coached water sessions plus video feedback and theory between surfs.
Coaching follows the same six-to-one ratio and Centre of Excellence standards as our daily improver lessons, with more time to embed skills across the weekend.
You should pop up confidently in whitewater and be working towards catching and riding green waves. Ages 18 plus with reasonable fitness and a 50-metre swim are required.
If you already ride green waves consistently, our intermediate weekend camp may suit you better. Tell us your experience when you enquire.
Your fee covers all surf equipment, four coached sessions across two days, video analysis, and classroom debriefs, plus heated changing and hot showers at Baggy Lodge.
Accommodation, meals, transport to the meeting point, and personal insurance are not included unless your confirmation states otherwise.
We cap groups at six surfers per coach throughout the camp. That is the smallest ratio for a Surfing England Centre of Excellence in Croyde.
Smaller groups mean more waves per person and quicker corrections to paddling, timing, and lineup etiquette.
Each day combines coached time on Croyde Bay with land-based video review and goal setting. You check in at Baggy Lodge, kit up, surf, then return for showers and debriefs.
Exact start times are confirmed when your dates are agreed, as coaches may shift slightly for tides and wind.
Accommodation is not included. Many guests stay in Croyde, Braunton, or nearby villages and travel to Baggy Lodge each morning.
We can suggest local B and Bs, campsites, and self-catering options when you enquire about your weekend dates.
Bring swimwear, a towel, warm layers, sun cream, and a reusable water bottle. Pack lunch or snacks unless your booking confirmation includes catering.
All surf hardware is provided at the centre. A notebook helps during theory and video sessions if you like to track goals.
You must swim 50 metres and feel comfortable in open water with a wetsuit. The camp is active, with repeated paddling and lineup time each day.
Mention injuries, medical conditions, or additional needs when you enquire so coaches can adapt volume and beach zones.
Yes. We are the only surf school in Croyde with hot showers on site, plus heated separate changing areas and free lockers.
That makes a real difference across two full days in the Atlantic when you want to warm up between sessions.
Coaches choose the safest part of the beach or adjust timing to match swell and wind. Very rarely we move a session to give you better waves.
Video analysis and land-based coaching continue when the ocean is unsuitable, so you still leave with clear goals from your coach.

You will find us in the heart of Croyde Bay, steps from one of the UK's most reliable beach breaks. We run surf lessons, coasteering, weekend surf camps, instructor training, equipment hire, and sea sauna sessions from our purpose-built centre on Moor Lane, with heated changing rooms, hot showers, and secure lockers so you can focus on the session.
Our coaches work at a six-to-one ratio on group lessons, hold beach lifeguard and Surfing England qualifications, and coach everyone from first-time surfers to national pathway athletes. Whether you join us for a single lesson, a private session, or a multi-day camp, we keep safety, progression, and time in the water at the centre of every experience.
