Amazing trip with 3x11 year olds. They loved it. Beat surfing apparently. Guides were amazing, kind, well informed and patient. We’ll be back for sure (take a GoPro if you want pics)
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.

You will find us in the heart of Croyde Bay, steps from one of the UK's most reliable beach breaks. We run surf lessons, coasteering, weekend surf camps, instructor training, equipment hire, and sea sauna sessions from our purpose-built centre on Moor Lane, with heated changing rooms, hot showers, and secure lockers so you can focus on the session.
Our coaches work at a six-to-one ratio on group lessons, hold beach lifeguard and Surfing England qualifications, and coach everyone from first-time surfers to national pathway athletes. Whether you join us for a single lesson, a private session, or a multi-day camp, we keep safety, progression, and time in the water at the centre of every experience.

Best teaching ratio in the UK at 6:1, at an award-winning Surfing England Centre of Excellence. If you are looking for the best place to catch waves and improve your surfing in Croyde, you are definitely in the right place.
Your surf lesson takes 2.5 hours with at least 1.5 hours in the water. Sign in at the surf school, get fitted with your wetsuit and board, head to the beach for your beach talk on technique, goals and safety, then return for a warm shower, debrief and get changed.
During the lesson you get personalised feedback to help you progress and correct any faults. Surf lessons in Croyde sometimes move to a different time or day when sea conditions and wind mean you will get more from your session.
"I've never surfed before," or "I've only tried it once or twice." If this sounds like you, you are in the beginner stage, and that is something to be excited about. Surfing for the first time is an unforgettable experience, and our beginner lessons are designed to make it safe, fun, and successful.
Typical signs you are a beginner: you have never surfed, or have only tried it briefly on holiday; you are still figuring out how to lie on the board, paddle, and pop up; you are not yet paddling out to catch unbroken (green) waves; you are riding the white water (broken waves) straight to shore; you use a big, stable board (often a foamie).
What you will learn: basic surf safety and how to read beach conditions; how to paddle, pop up, and ride a wave safely; surfing etiquette and how to enjoy the ocean responsibly; loads of fun, because that is what it is all about.
If you have had a few lessons and can pop up in the whitewater confidently, you may be ready for more than a beginner session. Improver coaching focuses on paddling out efficiently, catching unbroken waves with more control, trimming and turning across the wave face, and ocean awareness so you progress at your own pace in a supportive group.
Many surfers are in-between levels. On the day our instructors assess your ability at the beach and place you in the right group, whether you are catching your first wave or fine-tuning your technique.
We are the only purpose-built Croyde surf academy in the heart of Croyde Bay, a short walk from one of the UK's best-known beach breaks. Croyde's powerful sandbank waves break for at least 95% of the year, with enough push to get you on your feet.
Lessons run from Baggy Lodge on Moor Lane, with indoor changing rooms and hot showers on site, plus secure storage for your belongings while you are in the water.
Everyone taking part must be able to swim at least 50 metres. You do not need to be an experienced or particularly strong swimmer, but you should be comfortable and confident in the water.
If you have concerns about swimming ability, medical conditions or additional needs, message us in chat so we can advise you. Younger children can join a private family session from age five; public group lessons on this session are for ages eight and over.
We pride ourselves on the smallest coach-to-student ratio in Croyde at six surfers per instructor: more waves, more personalised coaching, faster progression, and a safer, more closely supervised experience.
All coaches are qualified beach lifeguards and ISA/Surfing England accredited, with programmes shaped by Damon Beveridge and the same standards behind our Surf Development UK pathway.
We have got you covered, literally. All equipment is included in your lesson: high-quality surfboards, wetsuits, and neoprene accessories tailored to the conditions throughout the year. In the warmer months, we provide Crocs for the walk down to the sand. If you have your own kit, right down to the Crocs, and wish to bring them along, feel free to do so.
All you need to bring is swimwear to wear under your wetsuit, a towel for drying off and changing after your session, and a big smile. We will take care of the rest.
The minimum age for our public surf lessons is eight years old. We can take children younger than eight surfing in a private family session or private lesson, so our instructor can tailor the session specifically to the ages and needs of the group.
If you are unsure which format is best for your family, message us in chat with ages and experience and we will recommend a private family session or a public group lesson.
Not at all. Our surf lessons cater for everyone from complete beginners catching their first waves through to experienced surfers looking to improve their technique.
We make sure you are placed in a session appropriate for your experience and ability, and we assess you at the beach on the day if you are between levels.

Your surf lesson will take 2.5 hours, and you will get a minimum of 1.5 hours of water time. You will change into your wetsuit, collect your surfboard, and receive a safety briefing and focus points for your lesson at the beach.
During the surf lesson you get personalised feedback designed to help you progress and correct any faults. When your experience is over, you drop your board off, get changed and enjoy a hot shower at the surf school.
Your group will never exceed six people per surf instructor. We believe in providing the best surf lessons, so our groups are the smallest in Croyde for a Surfing England Centre of Excellence.
Smaller groups allow the instructor to give you more time and attention, so you progress faster and any issues with your technique are quickly ironed out.
Yes. We organise family surfing lessons for children aged five and over in a private group format, with a surf instructor dedicated to you. Your family surf instructor is also a qualified beach lifeguard.
Public group lessons on this session are for ages eight and over. For mixed ages with younger children, a private family lesson keeps everyone in one coached group with kit and pacing matched to your children.
Yes. We are the only surf school in Croyde with hot showers. We also provide heated changing rooms and secure personal possession storage.
Indoor changing rooms and hot showers are on site before and after your lesson, so you can warm up and get changed in comfort.
Learning to surf can be completed in as short a time as one lesson. Standing on a surfboard and riding a white-water wave is entirely feasible after your first lesson, though it does depend on your aptitude and natural ability.
Some goals may take two or three lessons, such as paddling out comfortably or ending your ride in a controlled and safe way. Our coaches set goals with you on the day.
