Six hours in a private 4x4 takes you from a Dubai hotel onto the dunes, then into the Hajar mountains for Fossil Rock, Camel Rock and the pools at Wadi Shawaka. Sandboarding, a lunch box, coffee and dates travel with you, and the same jeep brings you back.
We'll collect you from your Dubai hotel with the lunch box already on board, and the jeep heads for open sand first before we turn north toward the mountains. Once the tyres are down your driver will take you over the dunes with stops for photographs, then continue toward Fossil Rock, the wadi pools and the lunch stop on the ground.
You'll have time for short walks on uneven stone between driving sections, and the same vehicle stays with you for the full six hours before we drop you back at the hotel door. We'll send the lobby time ahead of the long drive north, and wear comfortable shoes and a layer for the higher ground even when the coast feels hot.
Wadi Shawaka lies in the Ras Al Khaimah mountains, where rocky pools and wadi beds cut through the Hajar range rather than the flat dunes closer to Dubai. The private 4x4 day mixes dune time on the approach with stops at the wadi and rock formations before lunch on the ground.
We'll collect you from your Dubai hotel; the drive north is part of the six-hour day. We send the lobby time beforehand. Wear comfortable shoes for short walks on uneven stone, and bring a layer for the higher ground even when the coast feels hot.
You'll need to be at least five years old. Children travel with an adult. No driving experience is required. You should be happy walking on rock and, if you want to go in the water, wading a short pool.
Tell us about any walking limits before the day. The bypass hill is small, but it is still a scramble in the heat.
Wadi Shawaka is a six-hour private jeep day with lunch on the ground, Fossil Rock, pools, and dune time on the approach from Dubai. One driver stays with you from hotel door to hotel door, with walking stops paced for uneven stone.
We send the lobby time before the long drive north into Ras Al Khaimah. The day mixes mountain wadi scenery with desert approaches, not a second desk or a handover halfway through the morning.
We collect you from your Dubai hotel and drive to Wadi Shawaka in Ras Al Khaimah. Be in the lobby at the time we send you. The same private 4x4 brings you back. Do not travel to the Sharjah office.
We collect you from your Dubai hotel. The lobby window is sent to you beforehand, because the drive to Ras Al Khaimah and the wadi needs a prompt start.
Please stay in the hotel until the 4x4 arrives. Do not travel to the Sharjah office, and do not drive yourself to Wadi Shawaka unless we have agreed that in writing.
Yes. Return hotel transfers are part of the day, and the same private 4x4 collects you and brings you back after the wadi stop.
If you are staying outside the usual pickup area, tell us the hotel so we can confirm the collection still works for a six-hour day.
The outing lasts about six hours from lobby to lobby. That includes dune time, stops at Fossil Rock and Camel Rock, sandboarding, the wadi pools, a lunch box, and the road back.
How long you spend at each stop depends on the group. We do not rush the wadi just to fit a clock.
You'll need to be at least five years old. Children travel with an adult in the same 4x4, and they stay with that adult for the rock stops and the wadi walk as well as the dune run.
Tell us about any walking or swimming limits before the day. To pass one pool you either wade through or climb a small hill to go around it.
This is a private 4x4 for up to nine guests. You stay with your own driver for the whole day, and you can ask to linger at a stop so long as the day does not run over.
Solo guests still get the private vehicle. You are not asked to fill the jeep yourself, and you are not merged with another group on the sand.
The day includes a lunch box, Arabic coffee, dates, refreshments, and a snack box. This is a picnic-style meal in the shade, not a restaurant sitting between the rocks and the wadi.
Please bring any extra water you like to have. We do not stop for a restaurant once the jeep has left Dubai.
We recommend wearing closed shoes you can walk and wade in, and clothes you do not mind getting sandy or wet. Bring a towel if you want to go in the pools, plus sun protection and a hat.
A light layer helps in the mountains. Leave city sandals in the hotel, because the wadi floor is rock, not beach sand.
No desert-driving experience is required. Your driver handles the 4x4 for the dune section and the mountain road. You sit as a passenger with a seat belt on for every climb.
Sandboarding is a short stop on the sand after a talk on the ridge. You can sit it out and watch if you prefer.
The day needs a road the driver can use and weather the wadi will accept. Heavy rain can close the pools, and a sandstorm can stop the dune section.
If we cannot run the route, we will contact you with the next step rather than sending the 4x4 out on a closed track.
Yes. Sandboarding and the pool wade are there if you want them. Tell the driver at the brief if you would rather watch from the ridge or take the small hill around the deeper pool.
We won't push you onto a board or into the water. The day still works if you prefer photographs, the rock stops, and the picnic in the shade.
