Gain confidence responding to child and infant emergencies on accredited paediatric first aid courses run over one or two days near Skipton. Training suits teachers, childminders, playworkers and parents who need EYFS and Ofsted aligned qualifications with practical assessment.
Training is highly practical, hands-on, and focused on building real confidence to handle infant and child medical emergencies. Your instructor guides you through child and baby CPR, using automated external defibrillators (AEDs), choking management, bleeding control, recovery positions, and dealing with childhood illnesses.
Scenarios are structured into clear, bite-sized practice blocks with plenty of time to repeat drills on infant and junior resuscitation mannequins. The atmosphere is encouraging and supportive, ensuring you leave with the muscle memory and clarity needed to act calmly in real-life crises.
Training takes place at our comfortable classroom facility in the Skipton area at Heber Drive, equipped with modern training mannequins and first aid scenario resources. Free parking and local amenities are situated close by.
We email full arrival instructions, venue parking details, and registration times well before day one. For the two-day / 12-hour qualification, day two must be completed within ten weeks of day one.
Minimum age 16; no prior first aid training or medical background is needed. Candidates must be physically capable of kneeling on the floor to perform continuous chest compressions and practical resuscitation demonstrations.
Please inform us in advance if you require any physical adjustments or learning accommodations during the course. Comfortable casual clothing is recommended for kneeling and floor-based practical work.
Coaches have spent years working with schools, youth centres, and early years settings across Yorkshire, ensuring scenario training feels relevant to real nursery and classroom environments. We teach with empathy, realism, and a practical focus rather than just reciting textbooks.
Our courses are fully accredited and meet EYFS, Ofsted, and CSSIW statutory requirements for early years practitioners and childminders. You will learn from professional first aid tutors with frontline emergency and outdoor care backgrounds.
Classroom sessions meet at 17 Heber Drive, 17 Heber Drive, East Marton, Skipton BD23 3HA. Arrive a few minutes early for registration.
We send room access, parking and arrival time before your session.
Childminders, nursery staff, teachers, playworkers and parents who need an EYFS or Ofsted aligned paediatric first aid qualification near Skipton. The scenarios reflect classrooms, playgrounds and early years settings rather than generic workplace drills.
Learners must be at least 16 on the course date. Tell us about knee problems or learning needs when you book so tutors can adapt floor-based infant and child CPR practice.
Your fee covers qualified tuition, infant and child manikins, AED trainers, bandages and scenario props, plus certification when you meet the practical outcomes for the option you booked.
Travel, lunch, personal clothing and any employer audit paperwork beyond the certificate are not included. Refreshments during breaks are usually available at the training room.
Sessions run at our classroom on Heber Drive in the Skipton area, with parking close by and space for kneeling practice on infant and junior manikins. The venue is easy to reach from Leeds, Bradford and the Yorkshire Dales.
We email registration time, room access and any door codes before day one. Arrive a few minutes early so you can sign in before the first safety briefing.
Wear comfortable trousers and flat shoes because you will kneel on the floor for CPR, choking and recovery position practice throughout the day. Avoid tight clothing that restricts movement.
Bring lunch, snacks and water for the full training day. A notebook is optional if you like to jot down illness recognition pointers between scenarios.
No previous first aid certificate is required for the emergency one-day paediatric course. Tutors build skills from the ground up with repeated practice on infant and child manikins.
Choose the two-day course if your regulator requires the full twelve-hour qualification. Day two must be completed within ten weeks of day one to award the full certificate.
Assessment is continuous through practical drills, scenario exercises and tutor observation rather than a separate written exam. You will practise choking, CPR, bleeding and common childhood illness responses several times.
Tutors give feedback throughout the day and explain any skills that need a quick recap before sign-off. Most learners complete comfortably when they engage with the practical sessions.
The regulated Level 3 paediatric first aid certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue. Keep a copy for Ofsted, EYFS or employer audits and note the expiry date in your compliance records.
We can advise on refresher courses before your certificate lapses. Many settings book renewals in the same month each year to keep staff cover continuous.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old on the day of training. Younger volunteers cannot be certificated even if they help in a setting under supervision.
Employers remain responsible for ensuring each member of staff holds the qualification level their regulator expects. We can confirm which course option matches common EYFS and Ofsted requirements when you enquire.
Yes. The emergency one-day course covers the shorter syllabus many childminders and some school roles need. Book it when your risk assessment or regulator accepts the six-hour emergency paediatric award.
Select the two-day option if you need the full twelve-hour qualification. Both options use the same practical teaching style; the longer course adds depth and additional scenario time.
Infant and child manikins, AED trainers, bandages and classroom scenario kit are provided for every practical element on the syllabus. You do not need to purchase training materials before attending.
Bring personal items such as lunch, water and optional notebooks. Shared manikins are cleaned between sessions following hygiene guidance from the awarding body.
