Obtain a certification under the Paddle UK Awards system (formerly known as British Canoeing). Your SUP Sheltered Water Award is a Paddle UK Personal Performance Award, tailored for those looking to enhance their skills in a sheltered water environment.
This award provides comprehensive training to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and confident paddling experience. It will give you the ability to organise and carry out a safe and enjoyable trip on the water up to 200 metres from shore, up to force 3 in winds. This award is also designed to develop a range of skills such as the correct feet, body positioning and strokes required to keep you balanced. It offers a structured and supportive pathway to achieve your goals.
This course will run on the non-tidal stretch of the River Thames between Shepperton and Chertsey. Your SUP coaches will be India & Joshua. "Our aim is to inspire people of all ages and abilities to paddle, and enjoy our local waterways as much as we do".

You should wear comfortable weather appropriate clothing for SUP: wetsuit, drysuit or activewear. We do not recommend cotton or denim. Please wear either wet shoes or old trainers that you don’t mind getting wet. It’s also a good idea to bring a change of clothes for after the course.
We will send out a detailed kit list nearer the time, but remember to have the following; bottle of water, sun cream, hat, towel, waterproofs, snacks & any medication eg inhaler.
If you are using your own kit, you will need: paddle board, paddle, buoyancy aid, waist leashes, phone case, drybag
Your safety is our priority, therefore we may have to rearrange the course if wind is a constant speed over 15 mph, if lightning is forecasted, or if the river becomes unsafe to paddle on. The river can flood and currents can sometimes become too strong due to consistent rain.
More than 7 days notice: We will provide you with a credit voucher valid for 12 months*, or reschedule you on to a different session. If neither are suitable then we will issue your card a full refund, minus a 10% administration fee. 7 days notice or less: You will not be entitled to a refund. However we will do our best to fill the space, if, and only if we manage to fill it then we will refund you, minus a 10% administration fee. Please contact us for more information.

No refunds will be offered for changes to the itinerary or location. If weather conditions on the day aren't as you hoped (e.g rain, cloudy sky), but the activity is still taking place you will not be eligible for a refund.
