Take the first step towards becoming a skilled and confident freestyle coach with our one-day assessment. Designed for intermediate to advanced paddlers, this course will evaluate your practical coaching, safety, and rescue skills through engaging and stress-free methods. Led by experienced instructor Dan, you’ll gain the expertise needed to excel as a freestyle coach.
The assessment day is structured to provide a thorough evaluation of your abilities in a supportive environment. The day begins with an Assessment Discussion Task, where you’ll engage in professional dialogue to showcase your understanding and experience. This is followed by practical coaching sessions, allowing you to demonstrate your ability to instruct and guide others effectively.
In the afternoon, your rescue skills will be put to the test through a series of simulated scenarios. You’ll also be assessed on your personal paddling skills, ensuring you meet the high standards required of a freestyle coach. Throughout the day, the focus is on safety, engagement, and enjoyment, with ample opportunities for participant involvement in decision-making.

Participants must have completed Core Coach Training, Freestyle Training, Coach Award eLearning, and Assessment Check-In. Additionally, they must hold a valid two-day First Aid Training certification, Safeguarding Training, and be a full Home Nation Association member. Candidates must be aged 16 or over at the time of assessment.
