Join us at Christchurch Harbour in Dorset for an exciting kayaking experience that follows the Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing) syllabus. Our Paddle Discover and Paddle Explore Awards offer an opportunity to explore the gorgeous waters while enhancing your paddling skills.
Our lesson ensures comprehensive learning for all participants. The Paddle Discover Award focuses on developing practical skills and decision-making for safe kayaking. Through engaging sessions, participants learn essential techniques and strategies to navigate the waters with confidence.
The Paddle Explore Award offers a personalised approach, allowing participants to tailor their learning according to their individual needs and aspirations. With guidance from our experienced instructors, participants can explore advanced manoeuvres and deepen their understanding of kayaking principles, preparing them for independent paddling adventures.

For the Paddle Discover Award, some paddle experience is recommended to fully benefit from the training. Participants with prior exposure to kayaking will find themselves better equipped to grasp the concepts and techniques taught during the course.
For those aiming for the Paddle Explore Award, previous experience is essential, ideally having completed the Discover Award.
At our centre, we pride ourselves on training participants to use kayaks effectively and safely, empowering them to paddle independently.
Led by BCU Level 3 Sea Kayak coach Nick, our courses offer structured progression from basics to advanced techniques, ensuring a fulfilling kayaking experience.
Participants aged 8 and above are welcome for the Paddle Discover and Explore Awards.
For the Paddle Discover Award, some paddle experience is recommended. However, the Paddle Explore Award requires previous experience, ideally having completed the Discover Award.
Participants should bring suitable clothing for kayaking, including a change of clothes, sunscreen, and a hat. Personal belongings should be kept secure during the session.
We don’t charge extra for things you need for each booking. So wetsuits are available to all who want to use them. Buoyancy aids are compulsory so of course you get one of those.
All our kayaks come with back supports. We have a small selection of wetsuit shoes for those who forget, but as this is a more personal thing we suggest you bring your own enclosed toe type of shoe that can get wet.
The use of all kit is included with each lesson.
Unfortunately, we don’t. A large council-owned car park in Mudeford Quay is payable by the hour. Please note that the car park can be very busy during peak season and at the weekends, so please allow plenty of time before your lesson.
All users must read, understand and sign a waiver form prior to use. This will be found in your booking email. And as per your agreement, you must follow instructions given by the team. If in doubt ask.
Our centre is open every day from April -the end of October subject to demand and the weather.

We had an amazing time with bobby who was very polite and very chatty with the children and helped them with everything from getting there life jackets on properly to how to sit in the kayak and how to paddle, he was an extremely good instructor 😁

Our guide Lucy took us across Mudeford Harbour and around the Christchurch loop, she looked after us well. You often kayak against the wind to cross the harbour so the first part was challenging and we ended up needing to be towed by speedboat which got us drenched. The loop…
