We will follow the Paddle UK Syllabus to achieve your Paddle UK Discover Award at the end of the day!
Experience the beauty of Warwick's waterways as you glide along the Rivers Avon and Leam. Under expert guidance, learn fundamental kayak manoeuvres and safety procedures.
Participants have the option to undergo assessment for the Paddle UK Discover award during the day. While it's not mandatory, you will cover the syllabus over the course of the day so we recommend you go for it! Just to warn you, you will get a bit wet, but that's all part of the fun!
Don't forget to bring a packed lunch for a delightful riverside picnic!
Join us at St Nicholas Park in Warwick, a charming setting that provides the perfect backdrop for a day of kayaking adventure on the scenic Rivers Avon and Leam.
Kayak alongside Warwick Castle, originally built by William the Conqueror in 1068, one of the most well-preserved castles in the country.
No prior kayaking experience is necessary. Participants must be physically fit and comfortable in water.
Those interested in pursuing the Paddle UK certification must be willing to get a bit wet to participate in the assessment.
Our kayaking day offers a comprehensive introduction to kayaking, blending skill development with adventure in the stunning setting of Warwick's rivers.
With a focus on safety, enjoyment, and skill progression, we ensure every participant leaves with confidence and unforgettable memories of their kayaking experience.
No prior experience is necessary. Our expert instructors will provide guidance suitable for beginners, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
In warm weather: Basic sportswear e.g. shorts and t-shirt. It’s sensible to bring a spare fleece top just in case it gets colder than expected. On hot days don’t forget sunscreen, and a sun hat is a good idea.
If it’s cold/rainy: A fleece top and tracksuit-type trousers (jeans and hoodies are unsuitable, as they hold a lot of water). A warm hat is a good idea for cold days. Waterproofs are useful if you have them.
You must wear footwear: Old trainers, sandals, or beach shoes. They must stay on in the water, so flip-flops and crocs are unsuitable.
A towel and a complete change of clothing (and shoes) are required for everyone!
Also it’s handy to bring a carrier bag or two, to put wet clothes/shoes into after the session.
Wetsuits are not essential for introductory courses, but if you have one, they can be useful, especially when it’s slightly chilly. Don't worry if you don't have one.
We provide buoyancy aids (compulsory), waterproof tops if needed, and all necessary paddling equipment.
Showers and changing facilities are available and there is a takeaway snack bar.
Don't forget to pack a packed lunch for the riverside picnic!
Yes, interested participants can be assessed for the Paddle UK Discover award as part of the day.
While this assessment involves getting wet, it is not compulsory for all participants.
There is a pay-and-display car park off Banbury road, which is well-signposted through Warwick.
Parking is also available in Myton Fields during the summer months, just on the other side of the river.
Friendly, supportive staff. Appropriate safety equipment issued, and the hot shower in the changing room for afterwards, well "Bl**dy marvellous"! A thoroughly enjoyable day and hope Warwick boats offer something of interest in the future, will be back in a shot. Thanks to all there.
