Kids aged 7 to 15 share a two-hour birthday on a Pembrokeshire beach, with a coach, boards and wetsuits. Choose surf or paddleboard when you book: surf usually at Freshwater West or Manorbier, paddleboard at Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot. Games sit around the coaching so every child gets a go.
The children kit up on the confirmed beach, then a short brief before they go in. Coaches are ISA qualified and DBS checked, and they stay in the water with the group. There are simple games and a prize for the best wave or the biggest smile, then time to come in and change.
An adult needs to stay on the beach for the whole session. The exact beach is confirmed the day before around swell, wind and tide. Usual starts are 10am and 2pm. Give the group 15 minutes before the start.
Choose surf or paddleboard when you book. Surf parties usually run at Freshwater West, Castlemartin, SA71 5HW, or Manorbier. Paddleboard parties usually run at Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot.
Parking sits near each beach. If the planned spot is unusable we move and message you. Check your messages the evening before so parents drive to the right car park.
Children aged 7 to 15, happy in the sea and able to follow a simple instruction on the sand. No surfing or paddleboarding experience is needed. An adult needs to stay on the beach for the whole two hours.
Swimwear, a towel and a warm dry layer for each child cover the basics. Tell us ages so we can put the right boards out. Mention any medical notes that affect time in the water.
DBS-checked coaches stay with this birthday group from the brief on the sand through to the last game. They hold ISA awards and work as beach lifeguards, and sessions are AALA licensed.
Kit is fitted on the sand, then the rest is in the water. The pace stays with the youngest or least confident child, so a mixed age party still works.
The meeting beach lands the day before. Surf parties usually meet at Freshwater West, Castlemartin, SA71 5HW, or Manorbier. Paddleboard parties usually meet at Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot.
Park in the beach car park and walk to the flagged meeting point. Give the children 15 minutes before the brief so they can change.
The party window is about two hours from the meeting point and back, including a short brief on the sand and time in the water. Most of that window is spent on boards rather than standing on the beach talking.
Give the children 15 minutes before the start so changing does not eat into the water time. Morning sessions usually run from 10am, and afternoon sessions from 2pm.
Ten children is the cap, aged 7 to 15. That keeps the coaches close enough to give cues and run the games. Tell us numbers and ages so we can put the right boards out.
Larger parties should send a message in advance. We can look at more than one coach on the same beach if the numbers need it.
First-timers are the usual group. Children should be happy in the sea and able to follow a simple instruction on the sand. Coaches stay in the water and keep the pace with the least confident child.
If some of the party already stand up, say so at the brief. Those children can spend less time on a first-stand script while the others learn the pop-up.
Seven to fifteen is the range. Anyone under 18 needs an adult on the beach for the whole session, even if that adult is not in the water. Children should be happy getting wet and trying a board.
Tell us ages when you book so we can put the right boards out. The pace stays with the youngest or least confident child, so a mixed age party still works.
The beach pin lands the day before. Surf parties usually meet at Freshwater West or Manorbier. Paddleboard parties usually meet at Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot.
Parking sits near each beach. If the planned spot is unusable we send a new pin. Check your messages the evening before so parents are not driving to a closed car park.
Soft-tops for surf parties, inflatable boards and a buoyancy aid for paddle parties, plus a wetsuit for each child, fitted on the sand. We match the craft to size.
Leave phones and bags in the car. If a child needs medication in the water, give it to the coach at the start so it can travel with the group.
Ordinary rain does not cancel a party. We move beach when the swell or wind makes the planned spot unsafe, or if we cannot run a useful two hours there.
Check your messages the evening before if families are travelling a long way, so everyone has the confirmed beach before they leave.
Each child needs swimwear, a towel, a warm dry layer and sunscreen. A water bottle helps. Get changed into swimwear before you arrive if you want to skip the queue for the wetsuits.
Flip-flops are useful for the walk from the car. Leave valuables in the car. Pack a bag for wet swimwear afterwards. Cake and food stay with the adults on the beach.
Happy in the sea and able to swim about 25 metres is the bar for the children. First stands stay in water they can stand in, but they still fall in. Coaches stay with the group.
If one child is very nervous, say so in advance. The coach can keep them closer and spend longer on the first minutes in the shallows.
Cake, picnic food and drinks stay with you on the beach. The two hours cover the water session, the kit and the coaches. There is time after the session for a picnic if you want to bring one.
We send a simple invite template you can fill in. There are no changing rooms at most beaches, so a towel robe helps after they come in.

Leon was an amazing instructor
Hi, thanks it was great, 5 stars, great teacher. Cheers, Sarah
Our booking was at midday for 2 hours, but we didn’t get the stuff until 12:15 when the lady came back with the surf school. We were then told to bring the stuff back before 2 pm or she wouldn’t be there (we needed to get our deposit back). This…
Got some surfboards and wetsuits for a couple of hours. They were dropped off at the right place right time, he was very helpful and knowledgeable, gave us a little info about the beach because we hadn't surfed there before. Will definitely be using again and recommending
