



Looking to get into mountain biking? This course is the perfect starting point for you. Designed to inform and build confidence in beginners, this session is a fantastic way to experience the fun and excitement of mountain biking in a relaxed and supportive environment.
During this 1.5-hour session, you'll ride along the Nova Trail at Ashton Court, a blue-graded trail suitable for beginners to intermediate riders. Led by one of our qualified instructors, the session includes stops along the way for informative chats and practical demonstrations.
You’ll learn the basics of mountain biking, including bike control, handling, and safety techniques. The instructor will break down advanced skills into manageable steps, making sure every rider, regardless of experience, can progress. This hands-on experience allows you to feel the effects of different body movements on bike control, enhancing your confidence and enjoyment.
The session takes place at Ashton Court Nova Trail, located at Ashton Court Estate, Abbots Leigh Road, Bristol, BS8 3PX. This trail offers a mix of terrain that is perfect for beginners, providing a great environment to learn and develop your mountain biking skills.
Participants should be able to ride a bike but do not need any prior experience with mountain biking. The session is designed for those new to the sport or trying it for the first time.
Our instructors are all qualified through the MBLA, British Cycling, or MIAS, ensuring you're in safe hands while pushing your limits. With an in-depth understanding of bike control physics, our team is constantly refining coaching techniques to provide the best possible experience.

Wear sports or comfortable clothing suitable for physical activity. It’s best to dress in layers, as the weather can change.
No, a high-quality hire bike is included in the session price.
Our sessions run in most weather conditions. However, in case of extreme weather, we may reschedule for safety reasons.
Yes, please bring a water bottle. You can also purchase one from our shop if needed.
A basic level of fitness is sufficient. The session is designed to be accessible to beginners, and the pace will be adjusted to suit the group.
The trails at Ashton Court and Leigh Woods cater to all skill levels. Riders of all ages and abilities, from balance bikes to e-bikes, use these trails.
While some sections are challenging, there are alternative routes to avoid more difficult areas. However, even less challenging routes still carry some risk.
