Nabq Bay sits north of Sharm El Sheikh, where a wide beach meets open desert and the Red Sea stays calm for much of the year. Riders set off in a small group alongside a guide, following the shoreline before turning inland across flatter desert ground. Both first-time riders and more experienced ones are welcome, since guides match the pace to whoever is in the saddle that day.
Riders are matched with a horse suited to their experience and given a short introduction to steering and stopping before setting off with the group. The route follows the beach for much of the ride, with a stretch across open desert giving a change of scenery partway through.
Guides stay close throughout, so nobody is left to manage on their own, and the group pauses at a scenic point along the bay for photos before heading back. Horses are handed back at the start point once the ride is finished, followed by a transfer to the hotel.
Protected coastline north of Sharm El Sheikh backs onto mangroves and open desert rather than hotel developments here at Nabq Bay. The shallow, sheltered water keeps conditions calm, and the wide flat beach gives horses plenty of room to move at a relaxed pace.
The wider area sits close to Ras Mohammed National Park and forms part of the same protected stretch of Red Sea coastline, known for its clear water and undeveloped shoreline. Riding here offers a quieter, more natural side of the region than the busier resort beaches further south.
No previous riding experience is required, and guides pair each rider with a horse suited to their confidence and ability. A reasonable level of general fitness helps, since you will be in the saddle for a couple of hours.
Closed shoes are more comfortable than sandals, and anyone with back, hip or joint concerns should mention this when booking so the pace and horse can be matched appropriately.
Guides here work with the same horses regularly, which means each animal is well suited to its role and comfortable around riders of all abilities.
Keeping groups small allows more individual attention along the route, and the combination of beach and desert scenery gives the ride a variety that a single stretch of coastline would not.
