Small groups head out from Sharm El Sheikh on a guided quad bike ride across the Sinai desert, with a stop partway for tea with a Bedouin family. No previous riding experience is needed, and morning, sunset and sunrise departures are all available.
Guides run through a short safety briefing covering the controls and hand signals before the convoy sets off across the sand, keeping the pace steady so newer riders stay comfortable while still getting a proper feel for the terrain. The route runs between low hills and open plains, with regular pauses to regroup along the way.
Partway through, the group stops at a Bedouin tent for tea and a rest before continuing. The final stretch heads back towards the start point, often catching the best light of the day on sunset and sunrise departures, before quads are handed back and riders are transferred to their hotel.
Inland from Sharm El Sheikh, flat sandy plains give way to low rocky hills and wide open horizons, with the landscape changing quickly away from the coastal resorts, from packed sand tracks to looser dunes and the occasional Bedouin camp marking a stop along the way.
Sharm El Sheikh itself sits on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, with the Red Sea on one side and mountains and desert on the other, so a short drive swaps beach resorts for genuine wilderness. Riders get a good sense of this contrast on the way out and back, with mountain views opening up as the convoy climbs gently through the terrain.
No previous quad biking experience is needed, and the pace is set to suit first timers. Riders should be reasonably comfortable following instructions and holding onto handlebars for an extended period.
Anyone with back or joint problems should mention this beforehand so the guide can advise. Closed shoes and clothing that can get dusty are recommended rather than required.
Local guides know the desert tracks well and adjust the route and pace to the group on the day, which keeps things relaxed for beginners without losing the sense of adventure.
