A private quad bike outing through the desert outside Sharm El Sheikh comes with a dedicated guide and your own quad, rather than joining a large shared convoy. Hotel transfers are arranged in advance, so the whole outing runs smoothly from pickup to drop-off.
Setting off from a desert start point, the ride heads into the hills and open sand tracks around Sharm El Sheikh, with the guide setting the pace to suit each rider's confidence. A safety briefing covers the controls, hand signals and route before anyone sets off, so newcomers get a proper introduction before picking up speed.
A short stop partway through the ride gives time to catch your breath, take photographs and have a drink before the return leg. Quads are handed back at the start point once the ride finishes, and a private transfer takes guests straight back to their hotel.
Rocky hills, wide sand flats and the occasional Bedouin encampment make up the desert surrounding Sharm El Sheikh, all within a short drive of the main hotel strip. Terrain varies enough to keep a short ride interesting without demanding technical off-road skill.
Away from the coast, the desert opens out quickly, and even a few kilometres inland the resorts disappear from view, leaving quiet tracks and long sightlines across the Sinai landscape. It offers a different side of the region to the beach and reef, and a popular half day add-on for guests staying along the coast.
No previous riding experience is needed. Guests should be comfortable holding onto handlebars for an extended period and reasonably confident getting on and off a quad unaided.
A guide rides alongside the group throughout and gives full instruction before setting off, so nervous first timers are well supported. Anyone travelling with young children can bring them along as a passenger on an adult's quad rather than riding solo.
Choosing the private option means the pace of the ride is set around your group rather than a mixed convoy, which suits couples, families or anyone who would rather not queue behind slower riders.
Hotel transfers are arranged directly, so there is no need to make your own way to a meeting point, and the format leaves room to slow down, pause or shorten the route if anyone in the group needs it.
