



Developing your diving skills further allows you to explore deeper underwater safely. This course focuses on mastering essential techniques while extending depth experience to 30 metres for standard divers or 21 metres for juniors.
The course consists of five open water dives at approved local sites. Instructors will guide you through deeper dives while reinforcing essential safety techniques, navigation skills, and dive planning.
Each dive builds on the previous, gradually increasing your competence and confidence underwater. Emphasis is placed on maintaining control, managing air efficiently, and practising buddy communication.
Upon completion, you’ll be prepared to dive safely at extended depths and ready for further advanced courses or recreational diving adventures.
Open water dives take place at local dive sites including Capernwray quarry, Ellerton inland lake, and Beadnell Bay shore dives. Each site has safe entry points, facilities like showers and changing rooms, and conditions suitable for improving divers.
Instructors ensure you gain hands-on experience in realistic conditions, allowing you to practise skills at greater depths and experience diverse underwater environments.
You must be at least 12 for junior divers or 15 for standard participants. Prior open water experience and basic diving skills are required to benefit fully from this course.
Your instructor will assess your ability and adapt guidance to your skill level, ensuring you safely progress to deeper dives while building confidence and competence.
Instruction is hands-on and personalised, focusing on deep water skills, safety, and confidence-building. Instructors make learning challenging yet enjoyable.
Structured dives at multiple local sites help you gain experience in varied conditions. You’ll leave the course with the skills and knowledge to safely dive deeper and take on further courses or recreational dives.
It’s designed for divers aged 12+ (juniors 12–15, standard 15+) who have prior open water experience and want to safely expand their skills to greater depths.
Instructors guide each dive according to ability, making sure everyone develops confidence and competence for deeper dives.

You’ll refine buoyancy and trim at depth, navigation, dive planning, and emergency handling.
You’ll also practise air management, buddy communication, and maintaining composure under changing conditions, ensuring safe dives to 30 metres.
Dives are held at Capernwray quarry, Ellerton inland lake, or Beadnell Bay shore dives.
Sites are selected for safety, accessibility, and conditions suited to improving divers, with instructor supervision at all times.
Graduates can dive confidently to 30 metres or 21 metres for juniors and progress to courses like Master Rescue or technical diving programs.
Instructors can advise on suitable dive sites and additional courses to continue developing skills and experience safely.
