What to Expect

Each session starts with a briefing on safety, equipment, and an introduction to the climb. Depending on the location and your climbing ability, your instructor will choose the most appropriate routes, ensuring that you are comfortable while still being challenged.

Lake District

Little Chamonix – Shepherds Crag (Borrowdale, VD): A great introduction to traditional climbing, this route offers an enjoyable climb with excellent views of the Borrowdale valley.
Troutdale Pinnacle – Black Crag (Borrowdale, Severe): A step up in difficulty, this climb provides a rewarding challenge and offers fantastic exposure and views of the surrounding area.
Botterill’s Slab – Scafell Crag (VS 4c): Known for its smooth slab climbing, this route demands precision and technique, suitable for those looking to build their skills.
Eliminate ‘A’ – Dow Crag (VS 4c): A challenging climb with a variety of moves, this route offers a more technical challenge while showcasing the beauty of the Lake District.

If you’re new to climbing, it’s important to let us know beforehand so we can choose appropriate routes and ensure your safety.

While all climbing equipment is provided, it’s essential to wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Make sure to bring sturdy footwear, preferably approach shoes or boots, as well as a waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, and any personal items like a packed lunch or water.

Your instructor will inform you if any additional items are needed based on the weather forecast.

The activity can be booked as a half-day or full-day session. The time spent climbing depends on your chosen route and pace, but you can expect a mix of rest and climbing periods throughout the day.

Your instructor will guide you through the routes and adjust the plan to suit your experience level and endurance.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own transport to the climbing locations. The meeting point will be confirmed upon booking, and it’s recommended to carpool if possible to reduce travel time and costs.

Fully qualified as a Mountain Instructor (AMI) and Winter Mountain Leader, Paul combines professional expertise with decades of personal mountain adventures in the UK, Alps, and Himalayas. His journey began as a determined six-year-old carrying his own rucksack around Buttermere and grew into a lifelong pursuit of climbing, mountaineering, and exploration. Paul has completed achievements like the Wainwrights round (twice), the Classic Rock ticks, and part of the Hard Rock climbs, all while steadily working through the Munros.
