What to Expect

Your session will begin with a warm welcome and an introduction to the basics of surfing. The instructor will explain ocean safety, wave selection, and how to handle your board both in and out of the water. You’ll then move onto dry land practice, where you’ll learn how to pop up on your board and position yourself correctly to maintain balance.

Once in the water, you’ll put your new skills to the test with the instructor guiding you every step of the way. They’ll provide hands-on coaching to help you catch your first waves and stand up confidently. Throughout the session, you’ll receive personalised feedback to help improve your technique. By the end of the lesson, you’ll have a solid understanding of surfing fundamentals and feel more comfortable in the ocean.

Location

Lessons take place at South Fistral, one of Newquay’s best beaches for learning to surf. The sandy shoreline and consistent waves make it an ideal spot for beginners. With plenty of space to practise and expert instructors by your side, it’s the perfect setting to build your skills. Meeting details, including a pinpointed location, will be provided upon booking.

Prerequisites

No prior experience is needed, and all equipment is provided. Participants should arrive ready to learn with a positive attitude.

We provide everything you need, including a surfboard and a well-fitting wetsuit. If you have your own wetsuit and prefer to use it, you’re welcome to bring it along.

You should also arrive wearing a swimsuit under your clothes, bring a bottle of water, and pack suncream if needed. A positive attitude is always helpful too!

Please arrive 20 minutes before your lesson so we can organise your equipment and make sure you're ready to hit the water on time. We meet on the grass at South Fistral, and full meeting details will be sent to you after booking, including a pinpoint location.

Surf lessons are open to anyone aged 8 and above. Group lessons are capped at 8 participants per instructor, ensuring you get plenty of guidance and support.
