Take aim and let the arrows fly in this lively archery session set in the heart of Dorset woodland. Whether you’re brand new or have loosed a few arrows before, this 2-hour outdoor experience is all about learning something new, staying active, and having a laugh while you’re at it.
You’ll start with a relaxed intro to the basics—how to hold your bow, aim properly, and shoot safely. Once you’ve got the hang of it, the distance will increase, the challenges will change, and the fun really kicks in. You’ll play a range of light-hearted archery games, take on some friendly competitions, and maybe even pop a few balloons. The layout allows up to 12 people to shoot at once, so no waiting around—just non-stop action from start to finish.
As the session moves on, the instructors will build your confidence and technique, helping you shoot more consistently and improve your form. If you’ve done archery before, there’s plenty of scope to sharpen up your skills. And if some of your group are 12 or over, they can add axe throwing and crossbows into the mix while the younger ones stick with archery—you’ll all be within visual range, making it perfect for families or mixed-age groups.
The archery range is based in a peaceful patch of private woodland near Tolpuddle, not far from Dorchester. Surrounded by trees and totally off the beaten track, the setting feels calm, natural and ideal for slowing down and trying something new. It’s a great spot for both locals and visitors, with easy access from Weymouth, Bournemouth and the wider Dorset area.
There’s free parking right on site, and a short walk takes you through the trees to the range. The ground is uneven in places, so sensible footwear is recommended. Full location details, including a Google Maps link, will be shared in your confirmation email so you can find it easily without relying on the postcode.
No experience is needed—just bring a good attitude and a willingness to have a go. Archery is suitable for ages 6 and up, and sessions are designed to be inclusive for all ability levels. If you’re booking for under 18s, an adult must also be taking part. It’s a sociable, supportive activity that suits families, friends, stag and hen groups or anyone looking for something different outdoors.
Be sure to wear comfortable clothes suitable for the weather and bring a waterproof layer or suncream depending on the forecast. Closed-toe shoes are essential, and it’s a good idea to pack snacks, soft drinks and any personal medication. Please arrive 15 minutes early so you’ve got time to park up and walk in without rushing.
This isn’t your average archery experience. The session is led by instructors who take the time to coach everyone properly, without rushing or cutting corners. With high-quality bows, small group sizes and a purpose-built woodland range, the whole thing feels relaxed and well-run from start to finish.
The aim is simple: give you the time and space to enjoy yourself, learn something new, and get stuck in without pressure. Everything is designed to make the most of the setting—natural, rustic and away from the crowds. You’ll leave with new skills, sore arms (maybe), and a bunch of good memories.
