We had a fantastic morning on the river, the sun was shining and Andy was very helpful in his advice of where we could get to in the time we’d booked. All equipment and facilities great too, very handy to have lockers to leave some bags behind. Would definitely recommend!
Had a great Kayak session with Andy. A knowledgable, friendly and interesting guy and gave me the confidence I needed to start going out on my own kayak reguarly.

Learn to kayak in a small, friendly group while enjoying the calm waters of the non-tidal River Thames in Surrey. This 90-minute lesson is ideal for beginners aged 11+, with expert guidance provided throughout so you can gain confidence while having fun on the river.
The lesson starts with a land-based briefing covering kayaking basics, safety, and local river conditions. This ensures everyone feels comfortable and prepared before heading on the water.
On the river, you’ll practice essential skills like paddling forwards, turning, stopping, and reversing. The instructor will also cover techniques to prevent capsizing, while guiding the group along a scenic stretch featuring islands, bridges, and local wildlife.
Sessions launch from a private pontoon on the River Thames in West Molesey, Surrey. The calm, non-tidal waters are ideal for learning, with plenty of space to practise techniques safely.
Nearby facilities include free car parking, bike storage, lockers, and restrooms, making it easy to prepare and relax before or after your lesson.
No prior kayaking experience is required. Participants should be aged 11 or over and able to follow instructor guidance. All equipment, including buoyancy aids, is provided for a safe and comfortable session.
Dress for the weather in layered, quick-drying clothing, and bring a change of clothes in case you get wet. Avoid cotton or denim, which absorb water and become heavy.
This small, local company is led by instructors with extensive knowledge of the River Thames. By keeping group sizes low, each participant receives focused attention and guidance to build confidence on the water.
Certified by Paddle UK and members of BSUPA, the team maintains high safety standards and professionalism. Their friendly approach ensures your lesson is enjoyable, safe, and educational.

Learning to swim is a fantastic investment of your time! It is an excellent, very low-impact sport, easy to access and will give you confidence in and on the water. It may even safe your life!
You can use a kayak, but as there is a chance of you falling into the water you should wear a life vest and always paddle with someone.
Kayaks are mostly considered safe to use and are not easy to tip over. The recreational and touring kayaks we use here are extremely stable.
However, that does not mean that they can’t capsize! But it will really depend on the type of boat, the conditions, your experience and the type of water you are planning on paddling in.
