Spend four days kayaking through the Finnish Archipelago, exploring remote islands and setting up camp in a different wild location each night. This trip offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, with time for swimming, exploring, and enjoying evenings around the campfire. No kayaking experience is needed—just a good level of fitness and a love for the outdoors.
The adventure begins at a peaceful lakeside cabin, where the group gathers and prepares for the journey ahead. After settling in, there’s time to relax and enjoy the surroundings before experiencing a traditional Finnish sauna, followed by a refreshing dip in the lake. A shared dinner provides a chance to discuss the route, get to know fellow adventurers, and go over essential kayaking skills before heading into the wilderness.
The next morning, after breakfast, the group makes its way to the starting point, where kayaks and gear are prepared. A safety briefing and paddling techniques session ensure everyone is comfortable before setting off across calm waters. Paddling through the archipelago, the route winds past forested islands and rocky outcrops, with plenty of breaks for swimming and taking in the scenery. By late afternoon, a secluded island is chosen for the first night of wild camping. Tents are set up, and a meal is prepared together before settling around the fire to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Each day, the journey continues deeper into the archipelago, with time to explore islands on foot, paddle through narrow channels, and enjoy the remote beauty of the landscape. Wildlife sightings are common, with seabirds overhead and the possibility of spotting seals along the way. The route is flexible, adapting to weather conditions and group preferences, ensuring a balance of adventure and relaxation. Evenings are spent watching the sunset, taking a swim, and sharing stories around the campfire before drifting off to sleep with the sounds of the water nearby.
On the final morning, camp is packed up for the last stretch of paddling. The return route offers new scenery, with one last chance to soak up the wilderness before reaching the endpoint. After packing away the gear, there’s time to reflect on the experience before parting ways. For those continuing their travels, guidance is available for onward journey plans.
Teijo National Park is a beautiful region of Finland’s southwest coast, known for its pristine lakes, dense forests, and rugged shoreline. The national park is home to a vast network of islands, inlets, and sheltered bays, making it an ideal location for a kayaking expedition. The area is rich in biodiversity, with opportunities to spot ospreys, sea eagles, and seals along the way.
The park's waterways are a mix of open coastal waters and calm inland routes, providing a variety of paddling conditions suited to different experience levels. The remote nature of the region means that much of the archipelago is uninhabited, offering a true wilderness experience where you'll rarely encounter other people. With little light pollution, the night skies are spectacular, creating the perfect setting for wild camping under the stars.
First night: Your adventure begins at a lakeside cabin, a traditional Finnish retreat surrounded by forest. The cabin is set next to a peaceful lake, offering a chance to enjoy a refreshing swim before experiencing an authentic Finnish sauna. Inside, the cabin provides a cosy and comfortable space to relax, with shared sleeping areas and a welcoming communal atmosphere.
Wild camping: For the next three nights, you'll be sleeping on different remote islands in high-quality tents provided for the trip. Each evening, we'll set up camp in a scenic spot, with time to explore the island, gather around the fire, and enjoy a homemade meal. The campsites are completely wild, with no facilities, allowing for a fully immersive back-to-nature experience.
This trip is open to both beginners and experienced paddlers. No previous kayaking experience is required, but you should have a good basic level of fitness and be comfortable spending multiple hours on the water each day.
