We had an amazing time! Beautiful location and a great guide!

Paddle through the scenic fjords of Wester Ross on this four-day sea kayaking experience, staying in comfort each night rather than wild camping. With flexible launch points, expert local instruction, and the chance to spot seals, otters and even whales, this trip gives you a memorable Highlands adventure while refining your paddling skills.
Each day begins at the Lochcarron base with a short planning session before heading out to paddle one of the local lochs. With use of a vehicle and trailer, we can adapt to the weather and choose the best location daily. You’ll paddle past towering peaks, wooded shores, and open sea loch views, with the chance to explore Loch Torridon, Loch Carron, Loch Duich, and Loch Long across the four days. The paddling days are around 6–7 hours including stops, giving plenty of time to work on your skills, explore remote inlets, and take in the dramatic Highland landscape.
On the water, you'll travel light with no need to carry overnight kit, allowing more time to focus on enjoying the coastline and wildlife. The sheltered sea lochs here offer everything from wide open views to narrow channels rich in marine life. Highlights may include paddling beneath the Five Sisters of Kintail, watching seals bask on skerries, or launching near Eilean Donan Castle. Instruction is ongoing throughout, with emphasis on developing confidence and independence, whether you're aiming to lead club trips in the future or simply grow as a paddler.
Stay five nights at the well-appointed Rock Villa Hotel, located in easy reach of the local bistro and shops. This option includes all meals, daily transport, instruction, and equipment, making it ideal if you’d like everything taken care of.
Enjoy five nights at Castle Cottage B&B, a warm and welcoming spot right on the shore of Lochcarron. This package also includes all meals, guiding, transport and equipment, offering a slightly more homely alternative to the hotel.
This option is perfect if you're arranging your own accommodation, whether camping locally or staying in one of the nearby B&Bs or cottages. You’ll still join the group daily for guided paddles, equipment, and local transport from Lochcarron.
Based in the west coast village of Lochcarron, this trip gives access to some of the most dramatic sea loch paddling in the Highlands. Loch Torridon to the north is framed by ancient sandstone peaks and often hosts porpoises and seabirds, while Loch Duich to the south leads into the mountainous Kintail area. Other routes explore the tree-lined shores of Loch Carron or follow the tide through Loch Long.
The area benefits from more sheltered conditions than much of the west coast thanks to its inland sea lochs and the protective arms of Skye and the Applecross Peninsula. Launch points are chosen each day based on the forecast, offering both safety and variety.
Accommodation is included in both Fully Inclusive options. The Rock Villa Hotel offers comfortable en-suite rooms, while Castle Cottage B&B provides a relaxed home-from-home feel in a peaceful waterfront setting. Meals are homemade and generous, with packed lunches and post-paddle cakes a much-loved feature. Those choosing the Trip Only option can pick from a range of self-catering cottages, B&Bs or campsites nearby.
Participants should already be confident in a sea kayak, able to paddle in moderate conditions, and have some experience of day trips. While not suitable for complete beginners, this course is ideal for those with basic skills looking to build towards multi-day or wild camping trips in future.
If you’ve not paddled before or only have very limited experience, we recommend starting with one of our Introductory weekends or the Inner Sound Kayak Expedition first.
The team is made up of experienced guides who live and work in the Lochcarron area year-round. Their local knowledge goes well beyond maps – they understand the weather patterns, wildlife movements, and tidal quirks that make each trip smoother and more rewarding. You’ll benefit from both skilled instruction and the sort of insights that only come from years spent on the water here.
Every trip is run with care and attention to detail, whether it’s the choice of cake in your packed lunch or the back-up plans for shifting weather. With options to suit different budgets and plenty of flexibility in the itinerary, the trips here are designed to be both enjoyable and educational. It’s an approach that’s earned a loyal following and consistent five-star reviews.
