The sea lochs of Wester Ross offer excellent opportunities to spot Scottish coastal wildlife. You’re likely to see common and grey seals, various seabirds including guillemots and terns, and with luck, otters along the wooded shores. In Loch Torridon and the outer sections near the Minch, there’s also a chance of spotting dolphins and porpoises—and occasionally even minke whales in the summer months. We take a quiet and respectful approach around wildlife, so we don’t disturb their natural behaviour. ### What sort of terrain and scenery will we paddle through? Each of the lochs we use has its own character. Lochcarron features wooded shorelines, small islets and expansive views towards Skye, while Loch Torridon is surrounded by towering mountain peaks and ancient geological formations. To the south, Loch Duich winds between the famous Five Sisters of Kintail with a chance to start or finish at the photogenic Eilean Donan Castle. The landscapes are varied each day, keeping the experience fresh while allowing flexibility for the weather. ### How long will we be on the water each day? Typically, we aim for four to five hours of paddling a day, broken up with regular shore breaks and time to rest or explore.
