What is FAA?
First Aid Awards (FAA) is a UK awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual, providing first aid, health and safety and compliance qualifications. FAA sets qualification specifications; approved centres deliver training and issue FAA certificates that meet employer and regulatory expectations.
FAA outdoor first aid qualifications are widely booked by mountain leaders, paddle coaches and expedition staff who need sixteen contact hours of scenario-based care in remote settings. One-day emergency workplace courses are also available through FAA centres for simpler compliance needs.

Choosing a course
Outdoor leaders should book the sixteen-hour outdoor syllabus if their NGB specifies it; a shorter emergency first aid course may not count even when FAA issues both. Leave a comment when you book naming your target award (Mountain Training, Paddle UK, RYA instructor pathway, etc.) so the centre confirms fit.
FAA centres differ on venue, scenario realism and weekend scheduling. Certificates typically last three years. Compare listings and confirm whether the course is FAA-regulated and what assessment format is used.
Official standards
Qualification specifications and centre approval are published by First Aid Awards at firstaidawards.co.uk. This overview is a guide for booking on adventuro. Your training centre confirms the exact FAA qualification and NGB acceptance when you book.
