The Sudetes are Poland's sandstone-and-granite trail belt along the Czech border — ridge hiking, mountain biking, rock days and winter skiing without the full Tatra alpine ticket system. Weather swings fast on the ridges; fog and rain are common even in summer. Base in Szklarska or nearby valley towns for Karkonosze access, or push into the tablelands when rock labyrinths are the goal.
Karkonosze and tablelands
Karkonosze holds the classic ridge walks, bike trails and ski days of the Sudetes. The Stołowe and Owl Mountains add sandstone labyrinths, shorter scenic hikes and outdoor climbing when conditions allow. Beginners get valley and plateau walks; longer ridges need better navigation and weather judgement.
Season
