Discover Newquay’s coastline from both above and below the water on a sociable 90-minute snorkelling tour. Small group sizes ensure a relaxed and personalised experience, allowing you to explore coastal caves, rock formations, and vibrant marine life at your own pace. Perfect for those short on time or looking for a fun introduction to snorkelling.
The tour begins with a clear introduction to snorkelling, including kit familiarisation, safety advice, and guidance on basic skills. Participants will be equipped with wetsuits, buoyancy aids, masks, fins, and snorkels before launching from one of two secluded coves. These launch points offer calm, scenic settings, ideal for easing into the water and building confidence.
Once in the water, you’ll follow the coastline, exploring caves, rock formations, and observing a variety of marine life. Instructors share stories about Newquay’s maritime history, including shipwrecks and coastal heritage, adding context to your underwater adventure. You can swim actively or relax at the surface, making the session flexible to suit your preference.
The tour is designed to allow time for reflection and observation, with plenty of opportunities to spot marine creatures and enjoy the surrounding scenery. It’s a unique way to experience Newquay’s coast, giving you both the excitement of exploration and the calm of floating along the water.
Tours depart from quiet, semi-secluded coves along Newquay’s coastline, providing an intimate experience without the usual crowds. The waters are clear and sheltered, perfect for snorkelling and spotting colourful marine life close to shore.
The surrounding area features historic caves and rugged rock formations, giving a sense of the coastline’s dramatic history. With views of cliffs, sand, and sea, the route offers both underwater exploration and above-water scenery, making it ideal for families, friends, or small groups seeking a peaceful yet engaging adventure.
Participants should be comfortable in the water and able to swim unaided. Basic fitness is recommended, though the tour’s low difficulty means most people can take part.
No prior snorkelling experience is required as full instruction is provided. Wetsuits and equipment are included, so everyone can enjoy the tour at their own pace, whether actively exploring or simply floating and observing.
The centre offers experienced, insured instructors who provide friendly, personalised guidance to help everyone feel confident in the water. Small group sizes allow attention to individual needs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all skill levels.
Local knowledge and storytelling enhance the session, offering insight into Newquay’s marine environment and coastal history. The centre’s well-maintained facilities, including heated changing rooms, secure storage, and showers, make it easy to relax before and after the tour while enjoying a professional and organised experience.
No, prior experience is not required. Our qualified instructors will teach you the basics before the tour begins, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Participants are provided with a wetsuit, buoyancy aid, snorkel, mask, and fins, so there’s no need to bring your own gear unless you prefer to. We recommend wearing a swimsuit underneath and bringing a towel, warm clothes for after the session, and a waterproof bag for valuables. Footwear suitable for walking along rocky paths is advised, as some launch points involve a short, uneven descent to the coves.
It’s also worth bringing a small bottle of water and sunscreen, even on cloudy days, as you’ll spend time both in and above the water. Any personal items that aren’t needed during the session can be securely stored in our on-site lockers.
Yes, the tour is suitable for ages 8 and up, including complete beginners. The session starts with a detailed safety briefing and basic instruction, so even if it’s your first time snorkelling, you’ll be fully prepared. Our small group sizes allow instructors to offer personal attention to each participant.
Children must be confident in the water and able to swim. Parents or guardians are encouraged to accompany younger children to ensure safety and comfort. Our instructors constantly monitor the group throughout the session to maintain a safe, enjoyable experience.

Newquay’s sheltered coves and coastal waters are home to a variety of marine species, including small fish, crabs, and colourful seaweeds. Depending on the season, you might spot starfish, anemones, or even the occasional lobster or cuttlefish.
Instructors will provide guidance on observing marine life responsibly and can help identify species along the way. The focus is on safe, gentle interaction without disturbing the habitat, giving you a chance to appreciate the underwater ecosystem up close.
We both loved it , the instructor was a gentleman . Clear , concise instructions and very helpful . Can’t remember his name sorry , very tall with long hair
It was brilliant- wish it could've been longer (a half day, for example, to explore further afield). Harrison was our guide, and he set the perfect amount of challenge to relaxation. Very knowledgeable about the area, pirate/tea caves and local animal life. We were also asked in advance if we…
Jamie was a good instructor but a bit disappointed with the time snorkeling and not seeing anything. The sighting of the seals and info about the coast was great
Had a fantastic time, the instructors were great and would definitley do again in the future.
Everyone was so friendly. My crew leader Alex was really supportive and encouraging as I am not an avid swimmer and so easing my way into kayaking and coasteering was a breeze. The team back at their headquarters were amazing ... keeping my baggage safe as I toured and even…
Staff are very helpful! My boyfriend, dad and uncle really enjoyed this. They saw a playful seal ❤️ would recommend!
