Personalised and relaxed, this private kayaking experience gives you the chance to explore Newquay’s coastline at your own pace with expert guidance. Whether you’re after a one-to-one session or time on the water with family, it’s designed to suit all ages and abilities. With your own dedicated instructor, you’ll enjoy an adventure that’s both safe and tailored to your interests.
Your session begins with a full safety briefing and introduction to paddling techniques from your instructor, who will also help you get comfortable with your equipment. Once everyone is ready, you’ll head down to a sheltered cove to launch your kayaks and ease into the experience with calm waters close to shore. From here, you’ll learn how to paddle effectively while building confidence and enjoying the first glimpses of Newquay’s dramatic coastline.
As you make progress, your guide will lead you along stretches of coast rich in wildlife, history, and hidden features. Depending on conditions and your preference, you may explore sea caves, discover tucked-away beaches, or glide past rocky headlands where seabirds and seals are often spotted. The tour is flexible and entirely shaped around your pace, with plenty of opportunities to pause, take photos, and swap between single and double kayaks if you’d like to try both.
The session takes place around Newquay’s coastline, an area known for its golden beaches, sea caves, and sheltered bays. Launch points are carefully chosen to make the most of the tide and conditions, often starting from quiet coves that provide a gentle introduction before you venture further along the coast. These areas are well-suited for both beginners and those with some experience, offering a mixture of calm waters and more open stretches to suit your level.
Newquay itself is a vibrant seaside town on Cornwall’s north coast, famous for its surf culture, sweeping beaches, and coastal wildlife. With plenty of facilities close to the meeting point, including parking and cafés, it’s an easy location to spend the day. After your kayak tour, you can continue to explore the town or simply enjoy the beachside atmosphere.
No prior kayaking experience is required, and all necessary equipment is provided. The tour is suitable for adults and children aged three and above, making it a great choice for families as well as individuals or couples.
Participants should be comfortable in the water and able to manage light physical activity. Your instructor will adapt the pace and difficulty to suit the group, so everyone can feel at ease while still learning new skills.
The centre is committed to providing safe, enjoyable, and memorable experiences on the water. Instructors are qualified and experienced, ensuring you feel supported throughout your time on the water, whether you’re brand new to kayaking or looking to refine your skills. Their focus is always on tailoring the session to the individual, giving you the flexibility to shape the tour to your preferences.
With heated changing rooms, safe storage for belongings, and a welcoming base close to Towan Beach, the centre makes the whole process simple and stress-free. Many guests return year after year, not only for the activities but also for the professional, friendly approach that makes every trip feel special.
Not at all. This tour is designed for all levels, from complete beginners to those with some paddling experience. Your instructor will guide you through everything you need to know before you get on the water, making sure you feel confident and safe.
If you’ve never kayaked before, you’ll quickly pick up the basics and enjoy the chance to practise in calm waters before heading further out along the coast.
All specialist gear is included: kayaks, paddles, buoyancy aids, wetsuits, and helmets. The instructor will ensure everything fits properly and explain how to use it before launching.
You’ll also have access to heated changing rooms, outdoor showers, and secure storage for your valuables while you’re on the water.
Yes, children aged three and above are welcome to join. For younger paddlers, the instructor may recommend sharing a double kayak with a parent or guardian for added comfort and support.
The pace of the tour is flexible and can be adjusted to suit families, ensuring everyone feels included and able to enjoy the experience.
Most tours run as planned, even in light rain, as the wetsuits keep you warm and comfortable. However, safety is always the top priority, and instructors will carefully monitor conditions.
If the sea becomes unsuitable, the session may be adapted to a more sheltered location or switched to a different activity such as Super SUPs. In rare cases, the tour may be rescheduled to a time with better conditions.
Launch sites are usually from small coves around Towan Beach in Newquay. These spots are chosen for their shelter and ease of access, making them ideal for a relaxed start.
The walk down to the cove adds to the sense of adventure, and kayaks are already set up and waiting for you by the water’s edge.
Newquay’s coastline is home to a variety of marine life, including seals, seabirds, and sometimes dolphins. Your instructor will point out wildlife along the way and share insights into the area’s natural environment.
Although wildlife sightings can’t be guaranteed, the coastline is a lively habitat, so there’s always something interesting to look out for.
We both loved it , the instructor was a gentleman . Clear , concise instructions and very helpful . Can’t remember his name sorry , very tall with long hair
It was brilliant- wish it could've been longer (a half day, for example, to explore further afield). Harrison was our guide, and he set the perfect amount of challenge to relaxation. Very knowledgeable about the area, pirate/tea caves and local animal life. We were also asked in advance if we…
Jamie was a good instructor but a bit disappointed with the time snorkeling and not seeing anything. The sighting of the seals and info about the coast was great
Had a fantastic time, the instructors were great and would definitley do again in the future.
Everyone was so friendly. My crew leader Alex was really supportive and encouraging as I am not an avid swimmer and so easing my way into kayaking and coasteering was a breeze. The team back at their headquarters were amazing ... keeping my baggage safe as I toured and even…
Staff are very helpful! My boyfriend, dad and uncle really enjoyed this. They saw a playful seal ❤️ would recommend!
We had a really good time with Heath today. He showed us all the safety information and kept checking we were all okay. Instead of just staying out snorkelling he showed us some caves and told us about the history and cool knowledge about the caves and rocks. Had a…
