Explore the hidden underwater relics of history and develop advanced skills with our PADI Wreck Diver course. Designed for divers seeking adventure and discovery, this course equips you to navigate wrecks safely while observing marine life and respecting fragile underwater environments. Practical exercises and guided dives ensure you gain confidence in all aspects of wreck diving.
During this course, you’ll begin by reviewing essential wreck diving theory, including safety protocols, navigation strategies, and environmental considerations. Your instructor will guide you through techniques for planning dives around wrecks, recognising hazards, and identifying points of interest.
Practical sessions involve four open water dives where you’ll apply these skills in real wreck environments. You’ll practise buoyancy control, navigation, and safe entry and exit procedures while exploring sunken ships, planes, and other historical sites. Each dive is structured to build your confidence and mastery gradually.
Ethical diving practices are emphasised throughout the course. You’ll learn how to preserve wreck integrity, minimise environmental impact, and maintain awareness of marine life around wreck sites. This ensures that your diving is both safe and responsible while maximising enjoyment and learning opportunities.
Dives are conducted from Littlehampton Marina, providing access to diverse wreck sites in West Sussex. Local wrecks include historically significant ships and artificial reefs, offering varied conditions to practise navigation, buoyancy, and wreck penetration techniques.
Nearby sites such as Bognor Reef and the Far Mulberry add additional options for hands-on practice. These areas provide an accessible mix of shallow and deeper wreck environments, supporting skill development while allowing you to encounter vibrant marine life and underwater structures.
You must hold a PADI Adventure Diver certification or equivalent, be comfortable with basic diving skills, and pass a basic medical screening. These requirements ensure you are prepared for the challenges of exploring wreck environments.
The course is suitable for divers aged 15 to 99 who wish to enhance their wreck diving abilities, gain practical experience, and increase confidence when navigating confined or complex underwater sites.
The centre is staffed by experienced PADI instructors who specialise in wreck diving. With small group sizes, you’ll receive focused, personalised instruction to develop safe and competent wreck diving skills.
Divers benefit from both classroom-based theory and structured open water dives. Local knowledge of Littlehampton Marina and nearby wrecks ensures practical, relevant, and engaging training tailored to your skill level and learning pace.
You’ll learn wreck diving techniques including safe navigation, buoyancy management, wreck penetration, and ethical exploration practices. Theory covers planning, risk assessment, and environmental awareness for wreck sites.
Practical dives give you hands-on experience, allowing you to navigate, inspect, and explore wrecks safely under the supervision of a certified PADI instructor.
Divers must be Adventure Divers or have an equivalent certification, aged 15-99, with basic medical clearance. Prior diving experience ensures readiness for confined spaces and deeper wreck environments.
This course is ideal for divers aiming to explore wrecks safely, improve buoyancy control, and develop advanced underwater skills.
Four open water dives are scheduled at local wreck sites. Each dive focuses on specific skills, from buoyancy control to wreck penetration, gradually increasing in complexity.
Instructors provide guidance, monitor safety, and offer feedback, ensuring you gain both confidence and competence with each dive.
Standard scuba gear is included, but advanced equipment such as reels, lift bags, and dive lights may be recommended for certain wreck penetration exercises.
You can also bring personal gear if preferred. Instructors provide demonstrations on proper use to ensure safe and effective practice.
Local wrecks off Littlehampton Marina, plus optional sites at Bognor Reef and Far Mulberry, provide a mix of shallow and deeper wreck environments. These sites allow practice in real-world conditions with diverse underwater structures.
Using multiple sites helps you apply navigation and buoyancy skills across varied terrains while observing marine life and historical wrecks.
Safety is prioritised through controlled exercises, thorough briefings, and adherence to PADI standards. Instructors monitor divers closely and review emergency procedures before and during each dive.
Risk management strategies are reinforced throughout, including contingency planning, buddy systems, and dive planning techniques for wreck environments.
