Maximise your underwater time and reduce post-dive fatigue with the PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver Course. By increasing the oxygen content in your cylinder, Nitrox allows for longer, safer dives, making it an ideal choice for divers looking to enhance their underwater adventures. This course combines online learning with practical instruction to ensure you understand and apply Nitrox procedures confidently.
The course begins with online eLearning, allowing you to study theory at your own pace. You’ll cover the principles of enriched air diving, oxygen exposure limits, and planning considerations for longer dives. The materials are interactive and include quizzes to ensure understanding before moving to practical application.
Practical sessions provide hands-on experience with cylinder analysis and dive computer settings. You’ll learn how to identify the correct Nitrox mix, adjust your equipment safely, and log dives accurately. Instructors will guide you through exercises to develop confidence and competence in applying Nitrox techniques.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to plan and execute dives using Enriched Air safely, benefiting from longer bottom times and reduced fatigue. This course complements your existing skills and prepares you for more ambitious diving adventures.
Training is based at Littlehampton Marina, offering easy access to local dive sites suitable for applying Nitrox skills. The area provides sheltered waters and convenient facilities for practical instruction, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
Nearby dive sites allow for real-world application of Nitrox diving principles. Instructors select locations that provide suitable conditions to reinforce skills learned during practical sessions, from dive computer use to cylinder management.
You should already hold a Jr/Open Water Diver certification or equivalent, demonstrating competence in basic diving skills. A basic medical screening is also required to confirm fitness for diving, particularly when using enriched air mixtures.
Familiarity with standard scuba procedures is recommended, as Nitrox techniques build on your existing knowledge. Comfort with dive planning, equipment use, and underwater problem-solving will ensure you can fully benefit from this specialty course.
The centre is staffed with experienced PADI instructors who provide personalised guidance throughout the course. Their expertise ensures you understand and safely apply Nitrox diving techniques while maximising your underwater experience.
Small group sizes allow for individual attention, ensuring all skills are mastered under expert supervision. With access to modern facilities and high-quality equipment, divers complete the course fully prepared for enriched air diving adventures.
You’ll complete the theory portion online at your own pace using PADI eLearning materials. Lessons cover enriched air principles, oxygen exposure limits, and dive planning for extended bottom times. Interactive quizzes and modules ensure you understand concepts before practical training.
Instructors review your progress and clarify any questions before you start the hands-on session. This flexible approach allows you to learn in a structured yet convenient format, fitting around your schedule.
During the practical session, you’ll analyse cylinders to confirm oxygen content and learn to adjust dive computers for Nitrox use. You’ll also practise logging dives accurately and checking equipment for safe use with enriched air.
The instructor provides step-by-step guidance and real-time feedback, ensuring you apply all procedures correctly. These skills are essential for safe and confident Nitrox diving in open water environments.
Nitrox allows longer dives within no-decompression limits, making it ideal for recreational divers. However, dives must be planned carefully to avoid exceeding oxygen exposure limits.
Instructors teach you to calculate maximum operating depths and monitor exposure during each dive. This ensures you can enjoy longer bottom times safely without increasing risk.
The course provides all essential equipment for Nitrox diving, including tanks and regulators compatible with enriched air. You may bring your own dive computer if desired, and instructors will help set it correctly for the appropriate oxygen mix.
Using your own gear can enhance comfort and familiarity, but all required equipment is supplied for the course. Instructors ensure everything is properly checked and configured for safe use.
You must already hold Jr/Open Water Diver certification or equivalent. This ensures you have foundational diving skills and knowledge to build upon.
While the course introduces enriched air techniques, it is not a beginner-level diving course. Instructors provide support and explanations to bridge any gaps in understanding while maintaining safety.
The theoretical portion can be completed at your convenience online, and the practical session usually lasts a few hours. Total course duration is flexible, depending on your schedule and pace of learning.
This structure allows you to fully understand concepts before applying them, ensuring practical training is efficient, safe, and effective.
